Senior Building Science/Building Envelope Engineer

Duties and responsibilities for this position will include:
• Lead and oversee the design, analysis, and implementation of various building science engineering
projects for new and post-construction restoration projects.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers to integrate building science principles
into the design process for various types of residential and commercial construction projects.
• Undertake on-site visual and destructive investigations or performance testing of building envelope
components to produce technical engineering reports.
• Prepare technical reports and project specifications for various building envelope related projects,
assessments, and investigations.
• Senior consultation and review of technical reports and project specifications prepared by junior
engineers and technologists for various building envelope related work.
• Field inspection and reporting for various building envelope related construction projects.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in building science, green building technologies, and
building code standards.
• Prepare engineering proposals for building science related projects and liaise with clients.
• Technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technologists
• Various other miscellaneous duties and responsibilities.
The ideal candidate for this dynamic and challenging role should have the following qualifications:
• Completion of a degree in an engineering program with a focus on Building Science, Architectural, Civil
or Structural Engineering.
• 10+ years of relevant engineering work experience, with a focus on projects related to the field of
building science.
• Licensed Professional Engineer ( in the Province of Ontario.
• Thorough knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, construction, and contract legislation.
• Ability to deal tactfully and communicate effectively with clients, contractors, engineers, architects, and
co-workers.
• Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
• Effective organizational and time management skills, for concurrent handling of multiple in-progress
projects.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
• Demonstrate willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
• Self-motivating and the ability to multi-task.
• Self-starter possessing excellent interpersonal skills to develop, establish and maintain strong client
relationships.
• Detail oriented with good critical/analytical thinking skills.
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
• Valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle is a must.
• Fluently bilingual in French and English would be considered an asset.
• Thermography level 1, 2 or 3 certification would be considered an asset.)

Physical Requirements
Field work may include climbing ladders, performing inspections at higher elevations (including swing
stages, with proper training) and exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Ability to
occasionally lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs. The physical demands described here are
