Position Overview

Under the direction of the Regional Director, Indigenous Health, the Manager of Integration, Indigenous Health will collaborate with key stakeholders inside and outside the health system to choose and implement strategies based on current research and effectiveness literature, as well as the appropriateness and acceptability of the strategies that support and enhance culturally appropriate services for Indigenous people.

The short-term goals include

  • Participating in Indigenous Health projects.
  • Focusing on partnerships that promote the increase and improvement of Indigenous health service delivery, workforce development, education and awareness within the health care system.
  • Program development within health faculties to support and enhance the health service provision for Indigenous clients and workforce development with the Indigenous community.

The long-term strategy will address the entire range of factors that influence improved health and wellness opportunities for the Indigenous population, including workforce development, health education and health services.

Main Function :

Reporting to the Regional Director, Indigenous Health; the Manager of Integration, Indigenous Health Programs is responsible for implementing a regional Indigenous health integration strategy, overseeing the implementation of regional guidelines in collaboration with other program teams, overseeing program monitoring of evaluation and quality improvement strategies and ensuring effective information management in Indigenous health care.

Working within the Winnipeg Integrated Services Framework and regional program teams, the Manager of Integration, Indigenous Health will provide regional leadership in strategic planning, regional coordination, project management and evidence-informed program implementation and evaluation, quality management, information management, and professional development.

Experience

  • Minimum of four years of related work experience with at least three years in a management leadership position is required.
  • Knowledge or experience of one or more clinical areas where Indigenous health services are provided is preferred.
  • A working knowledge applying the principles of Indigenous health care to health care system development is preferred.

Education (Degree / Diploma / Certificate)

  • Under graduate in a relevant field from a recognized post-secondary institute.
  • Master’s degree in a related area or, a commitment to enroll in a master’s degree program within 2 years and demonstrate substantial progress towards completion within 5 years.

Certification / Licensure / Registration

Valid driver’s license and access to vehicle.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge in policy and partnership development.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide project leadership and manage complex projects.
  • Superior organizational skills in the ability to manage multiple projects and complete work according to established deadlines is required.
  • Demonstrated prior experience with program development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated experience and skills in assessment, synthesis and knowledge translation of literature and practice from other jurisdictions and application to practice.
  • Proven ability to collect, collate, interpret and analyze data and prepare written reports.
  • Excellent oral communication skills required including demonstrated experience in presentations, group facilitation, facilitating productive meetings.
  • Experience and ability in developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with a broad range of individuals and organizations, including the ability to facilitate, collaborate and resolve conflict.
  • Demonstrated success in working with inter-professional teams within the health region and multi-sectorial partnerships within and beyond the health services sector including liaising with other levels of government, jurisdictions and organizations on a provincial and national level is required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Access, Excel and PowerPoint is required.
