Job description

UnionWare is looking for Developers to join their team!

ABOUT UNIONWARE:

UnionWare ULC, based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, has been building and supporting membership-management software for labour unions since 1998. The platform centralizes tasks like membership tracking, dues processing, grievance handling, and event coordination - serving unions across Canada, the U.S., and Australia. Rooted in Winnipeg’s vibrant tech community, UnionWare combines local talent and global reach to empower organized labor with streamlined, data-driven tools.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As a Developer at UnionWare, you’ll design, build, and maintain enterprise-level and web-based applications that support mission-critical operations. Working with technologies like VB.NET, ASP.NET, SQL, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, and jQuery, you’ll implement new features, optimize performance, and ensure secure, scalable solutions. This role thrives in an Agile environment, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software that meets client and business needs.

Requirements

Development & Implementation

  • Enhance and maintain Enterprise software written in VB.NET.
  • Develop and support web products using ASP.NET, JavaScript, CSS, HTML5, and jQuery.
  • Configure software through database entries and custom scripts.
  • Implement new features and modules across full-stack technologies.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with Solutions Architects, Business Analysts, QA Analysts, Account Managers, and DevOps.
  • Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and estimation meetings.
  • Communicate with clients and stakeholders to gather requirements and verify resolutions.

Quality & Standards

  • Conduct code reviews and contribute to process improvement and standardization.
  • Ensure maintainable, scalable, and secure code is produced.
  • Contribute to technical documentation and internal knowledge bases.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 18 months of SQL experience; ability to pass a SQL test during interviews.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft .NET (VB, C#, ASP.NET Web Forms).
  • Familiarity with DevExpress Reports, jQuery, and modern frameworks is an asset.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).

Skills

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and client service orientation.
  • High standards for task completion, accuracy, and time management.
  • Adaptability, initiative, and accountability in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions

  • Hybrid (1 to 2 days a month for in-person meetings with the team)
  • Periodic travel in North America and Australia

Benefits

  • Personal training plans and professional development.
  • Flexible work hours and focus on work/life balance.
  • Health, dental and vision coverage from day one of employment.
  • Profit sharing and annual cost-of-living increases.
  • GRSP contributions and monthly team-building events.
  • Participation in hack weeks and an innovative culture.
