Salary : At Wawanesa, salary is only one component of a holistic, comprehensive and competitive offering that we provide to our employees. The salary offered for this role is determined with consideration to various factors, including but not limited to : your work location, local labour market conditions, external market salary data, internal pay equity and the knowledge, skills, experience and anticipated proficiency in the role. The salary offered is estimated to be within the following range : $110,000- $170.000. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are still encouraged to apply.

Job Overview
Working under minimal supervision, the Actuarial Expert-Personal Lines Pricing is responsible for leading development of best practices integration into processes and methods used by the actuarial team. They function as experts in actuarial methodologies and mentor actuarial staff at all levels in the understanding and use of these methods. They are familiar with regulation and legislations in all the jurisdictions in which we write business and ensure the methodologies used comply with such. They innovate on our current actuarial practices and effectively manage multiple high priority projects within a department. This role is considered a head-office role and will be required to communicate with internal stakeholders across Canada where the primary business language utilized is English.
Job Responsibilities
- Analytical : High degree of mastery over accessing, selecting, and interpreting data. Works independently. Mastery over multiple types of analytical tools. Evaluates procedures and processes, and recommends alternatives or improvements. Subject matter expert on valuable analytical methods. Strong ability to innovate on complex projects.
- Process Improvement / Efficiency : Automates routine tasks to focus on high-leverage work items. Able to design and implement robust processes that make work easier for themselves and their peers. Develops creative approaches to solve complex issues and assesses impacts of solution options.
- Industry : A leader in the actuarial community. May include teaching, volunteering, or authoring papers to advance actuarial knowledge. Brings that knowledge and experience to Wawanesa's actuarial community.
- Commitment to Learning : Regularly shares their expertise with other actuaries at Wawanesa. Contributes to training materials. Facilitates opportunities for others to learn. Keeps up with their professional development opportunities.
- Stakeholder Management : Has a strong network inside and outside of Wawanesa. Leverages rapport with stakeholders to keep people up to date on key projects.
- Project Management : Leads large-scale, complex and high-impact projects and initiatives across diverse project teams. Requires minimal oversight from management. Includes implementation of final product. Includes training and documentation of the project.
- Mentorship : Actively contributes to the mentorship, training and development of actuarial analysts and sometimes managers.
