JOB SUMMARY
The Homelessness Systems and Operations Unit is responsible for planning and managing the effective functioning, coordination and monitoring of the homelessness service system, which involves the effective delivery of services to the community through non-profit agencies / for profit providers, including street outreach, housing with supports and transitional / supportive housing, Housing First including housing subsidies, general housing assistance and residential service homes.
You will act as a single point of access for businesses / housed residents and communities. You are responsible to establish and maintain relationships to enhance collaboration and resource sharing and develop and implement strategies for increasing community engagement. You play a leadership role in developing and implementing local strategies to determine service needs by organizing and facilitating consultation initiatives. You are responsible for resolving conflicts and problem solving to develop solutions to improve service delivery and to respond to emerging community needs or issues and responding to requests and complaints directed to senior staff from the general public, City council, internal City staff and community stakeholders. You are responsible to assist in a wide variety of department and branch initiatives to support community development, offering guidance and opportunities for social change and making improvements to communities, and act as a spokesperson for the Branch at meetings and on project teams.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of 4 year university degree in Social Work, Health, Recreation, Communications, Leisure Studies, Physical Education, Business or Public Administration, or directly related field
Minimum of 6 years of progressively more responsible experience in community focused programs and projects of increasing complexity
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES
Current Standard First Aid, CPR and / or AED certificates are assetsAODA Accessibility / IASR TrainingHigh Five training courses are assets
