Thomson Reuters is seeking a Sr. Manager, IT Sourcing. The Global IT Sourcing team at Thomson Reuters works across all of Thomson Reuters to ensure we are leveraging our spend on technology services as effectively as possible and within an acceptable risk perimeter to drive our corporate objectives.

The successful candidate will be part of a global team responsible for sourcing large scale contracts in addition to driving strategic initiatives to improve supplier management processes and overall efficiency within the procurement function.

You will work closely with other functions such as Finance and Legal, and also have regular interaction with senior leadership.

Note : This is a Hybrid role (*mix of working from home and in the Toronto office at least 2 days per week).

About the Role

In this opportunity as Sr. Manager, IT Sourcing , you will :

  • Develop Category Plans containing a portfolio of key initiatives which deliver the IT Strategy, working directly with stakeholders to understand their needs and to determine the right sourcing strategies.
  • Collaborate with various functions such as Legal, Risk & Compliance, ISRM, Technology and Business stakeholders to drive value
  • Lead large, complex negotiations with key suppliers
  • Effectively and efficiently apply the Global Procurement methodology and provide guidance on proper use of the procurement policies to stakeholders
  • Identify opportunities to rationalize suppliers to simplify supplier landscape and leverage spend through consolidation or aggregation of demand to drive commercial efficiency
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and external vendors
  • Be a leader in the procurement function and provide support / coaching to junior members of the larger procurement organization.
  • Represent Procurement in governance forums with strategic IT suppliers, and build and enhance relationships with strategic IT suppliers along with the vendor and service delivery management teams to deliver high levels of service whilst maintaining best-in-class

Key Deliverables :

  • Category Plans and Sourcing Strategies developed and approved by all relevant stakeholders
  • High-quality collateral, Sourcing project artifacts, and negotiated supplier agreements developed and approved in accordance with the Global Procurement Methodology at each stage of the sourcing lifecycle to facilitate informed decision-making amongst the stakeholder community
  • Significantly reduced third party risks with mitigation strategies for each IT sourcing initiative
  • Significant and sustainable annual reduction in Thomson Reuters cost-base, demonstrated using a robust savings methodology which is consistently applied and rigorously approved

About You

You're a fit for the role of Sr. Manager, IT Sourcing if your background includes :

  • Bachelor's degree, Procurement certification or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5-10+ years of experience in IT Sourcing including successful development and negotiation of IT agreements in excess of $20M value
  • Experienced sourcing practitioner, understanding of best-practice sourcing methodology with a deep understanding of contract terms and contractual language;

proven skills and experience in drafting and redlining contracts and a demonstrated track record of working ethically to achieve excellent outcomes.

  • Knowledge of the sourcing marketplace and trends in the industry, as well as regulatory climate, including the ability to assess the impact of change in the context of the sourcing strategy
  • Proven track record of delivering significant and sustainable cost reductions through effective implementation of a coherent IT sourcing strategy
  • Experience working with large enterprise software companies (e.g., Oracle, IBM, Microsoft, Salesforce, SAP etc)
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and solve problems
  • Expert analytics and ability to develop coherent and high-quality sourcing collateral including business cases, contract summaries, presentations, and RFx materials
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and written and ability to collaborate cross functionally to deliver results.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Self-starter who can take ownership and lead projects independently
