SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director Financial Reporting, the Senior Financial Analyst is a critical role in producing insightful financial analysis and reporting to senior management, shareholders, Board of Directors, and lenders, highlighting key trends, risks, and opportunities to support strategic decision-making.
The incumbent will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records. They will also contribute to document accounting policies, implement and communicate them across the organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and prepare executive-level financial performance reports, presentations and dashboards.
- Conduct variance analysis, valuate cost structure, identify trends, risks and cost-saving opportunities.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual statutory financial statements.
- Assist with year-end audits and provide documentation and support as needed.
- Contribute to document accounting policies for the organization.
- Assist with corporation taxes and insurance related matters.
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, enhance efficiency, and strengthen internal controls, implementing best practices as needed.
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
CPA designation.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 5 years experience.
- Experience in an accounting firm.
- Bilingual (English and French) as this role must communicate with out of province stakeholders.
- Strong background in accounting principles (GAAP for private enterprise), consolidation and financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret financial data and trends effectively.
- Outstanding organisational skills including the ability to manage and prioritise concurrent tasks, meet deadlines and to work in an independent, flexible manner where required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage with a broad range of stakeholders (both internal and external) both in the provision of information, support and advice.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, rapidly evolving organization.
- Self-motivated and pro-active achiever able to meet deadlines.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft D365 Business experience (preferable).
