Purpose
The Senior Technical Analyst provides all aspects of operational and technical support for Global Transaction Banking’s file translation platform.
This platform is used to deliver payment and reporting services to Scotiabank’s commercial and corporate customer base.
What You’ll Do :
The Senior Technical Analyst, Special Processing Support Services will provide full system life cycle management (analysis, technical requirements, design, testing and implementation) and support of the bank’s file translation platform.
The core duties of the Senior Technical Analyst will include :
- Designing and implementing database structures and schemas
- Monitoring database performance and identifying ways to optimize it
- Creating and enforcing data security policies and procedures
- Backing up and restoring databases in case of data loss or corruption
- Review procedures relating to database changes required of application delivery or infrastructure maintenance
- Managing user access and permissions to the database
- Developing and implementing disaster recovery plans
- Troubleshooting database issues and working with other IT staff to resolve them (After hours on-call support will be required)
- Develop automation for day to day operational database tasks
- Maintaining database documentation and keeping it up to date
- Train the team to enhance their skills
- Planning and executing database upgrades and migrations
What You'll Bring :
- University Degree in Computer Science Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role
- Have a working knowledge of relational and embedded database technologies (SQL server, Microsoft Access)
- Expert knowledge of SQL tuning and database performance optimization
- Experience with performance tuning of MS databases, highly available payment and transactional systems, data replication, and database clusters
- Some understanding of financial payment products and services (including technical aspects and business logic / processing) is an asset
- Collaborating with Dev, QA, Testing, Operations teams
- Self-motivated and able to learn quickly
- Certifications in database technologies, such as Microsoft Certified Database Administrator is an asset
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and able to communicate with business and technical stakeholders
- Strong team player and able to seamlessly interact with others in a team environment
Work Arrangement :
The incumbent is frequently confronted by customers and internal staff who require timely solutions to incidents affecting customers.
These requests, coupled with unpredictable and fluctuating project deadlines, subject the incumbent to potentially stressful situations regularly.
The incumbent will be required to work different shifts and times.
