The Operations Support Clerk requires onsite work because the work cannot be performed efficiently or effectively offsite. Therefore, it is to be expected to report on site in Toronto (Ontario) when scheduled for work.
Duties
As an Operations Support Clerk in the mailroom, you will be responsible for tasks such as :
- Respond to e-mail requests.
- Processing outgoing mail : send requests from delivery box to printer, walk to printer to retrieve documents to be mailed, insert appropriate documentation into envelopes, label envelopes and process mail stamps.
- Processing incoming mail : collect mail in designated area, sort mail, scan mail using scanner, email scanned documents to agents and lock mail in appropriate cabinets.
- Arrange Purolator mail collection.
- Sort throught inventory and supply orders.
- Collect and expedite deliveries to agents.
- Receive and log cheques, scan to the officer, and store in the filling room.
- Process reports by verifying information for completeness and entering appropriate information into internal database.
- Participate in various projects and meetings.
- Perform other tasks as required.

Intent of the process
This process is intended to create and maintain an inventory of candidates for casual opportunities and could also be used to staff similar positions with various titles and security requirements within Employment and Social Development Canada.
Casual employment definition :
Casual workers are hired for specified periods that may not exceed 90 working days in one calendar year, in a department or in an agency to which the Public Service Commission (PSC) has exclusive authority to make appointments. The period of casual employment may be for one or more than one term, but is not to exceed 90 working days in a department or agency in a calendar year.
