Principal Scientist, Analytical Development

We are looking for a Principal Scientist to join our Analytical Services team on a 1-year contract. This position will be based out of our Fraser Head Office, located in Liberty Village and will require candidates to work 5-days a week on-site in the office. This position will have a large focus on the Raw Material Qualification Process and Method Development and Validation.
WHAT YOU’D BE DOING IN THIS ROLE
- Collaborates within cross-functional teams to launch new formulations aligned with company vision
- Supports NPD process with analytical insights for raw materials choice and phase-appropriate analytical strategies to deliver cost-effective solutions that manage risk and preserve confidence in analytical data
- Leads method development, transfer, qualification, and validation of QC-friendly product release methods
- Supports the definition and justification of phase-appropriate specifications
- Contributes to new market expansion strategies by developing innovative approaches to substantiate and support label claims
- Contributes to formula optimization through scientific studies supporting product investigation, stability challenges, formulation interactions, and manufacturing processes
- Plans and executes complex projects while supporting high-quality research and documentation standards
- Communicates project results to stakeholders, documenting achievements in reports, publications, or presentations
- Advocates for adoption of new tools and technologies to enhance current capabilities and foster departmental growth in alignment with project and departmental goals
- Manages analytical projects, author/review technical documents, and ensure compliance with SOPs and regulatory requirements
- Oversees daily industrially focused analytical operations, including sample custody, equipment scheduling, work assignments, and regulatory compliance
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED TO GET THE JOB in Analytical Chemistry or related field with 5+ years of experience, or in Analytical Chemistry or related field with 8+ years of relevant experience, or in Analytical Chemistry or related field with 10+ years relevant experience in industry
- Ability in a wide range of analytical techniques including GC, GC/MS, HPLC, LC/MS, Wet Chemistry and Physical Chemistry techniques
- Extensive technical knowledge of cosmetic formulation technology or pharmaceuticals, actives, and raw materials
- In-depth knowledge of GLP, GMP guidelines, and regulatory requirements for cosmetic and OTC products
- People management experience is a plus
