Responsibilities
What your day will look like
Field Activities
- Complete field activities in accordance with established health and safety protocols.
- Coordinate and complete contaminated sites projects, including Phase I, II & III Environmental Site Assessments, hydrogeological investigations, soil / groundwater / surface water / sediment / soil vapour sampling programs, and contaminated site remediation projects.
- Coordinate and complete designated hazardous substance surveys including asbestos and lead sampling and assist in air emissions testing programs.
- Complete documentation of field activities, site health and safety meetings, and chain of custody forms.
- Assist in supporting environmental assessment reports, including : data tables, borehole logs, test pit logs, GIS / CAD, etc.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain project specific equipment.
Project Coordination
- Coordinate with laboratories, clients, subcontractors, third-party stakeholders.
- Compile and analyse data.
- Contribute to the preparation of project proposals and presentations, and client liaison.
- Assist in report writing and preparation of technical memos, letters, reports, spreadsheets and figures including data tables and borehole / test pit logs.
- Coordinate and manage project tasks, budgets and schedules.
- Assist project managers, engineers, environmental scientists and others on a variety of multidisciplinary design teams.

Qualifications
Requirements
- Degree in environmental engineering, environmental sciences, or geology.
- Entry level position but up to 2 years of experience in environmental consulting will be an asset.
- Strong work ethic with genuine interest in environmental consulting and field work.
- Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication, and organizational skills.
- Exceptional problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrated abilities to work in a multidisciplinary team and independently.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office . Excel and Word
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Comfortable with use and operation of a 4X4 truck in an off-road environment.
- Willingness to work remotely in the field for up to two weeks.
- Ability to work overtime when required.
- Ability to work alone with guided direction or partial supervision.
Experience
Experience in any of the following would be considered an asset :
- Experience working around heavy equipment, including drill rigs and excavators.
- Phased Environmental Site Assessment and remediation and / or hazardous building material surveys.
- Soil and groundwater / surface water sampling.
- Experience with groundwater monitoring, including conducting slug tests and using data loggers
- Knowledge in several of : geology, hydrogeology, environmental sampling procedures, environmental chemistry, site characterization, waste management, remediation, and health and safety.
- Proficiency in ESdat, , Surfer, gINT or database abilities will be an asset.
