Director, Career and Student Engagement

Salary Range : $109,535.16 to $148,194.63
Location : 7 Fultz Campus
Monday to Friday, 8 : 30 am to 4 : 30 pm (35 hours / week)
This key leadership role is responsible for the oversight and growth of the MITT Adult Learning Centres, and Recruitment, Career and Employment Services.
The Director will drive strategy to define and create seamless pathways to certificate, diploma and post-graduate programs at MITT.
The Director, Career and Student Engagement will be expected to seek out new business development opportunities resulting in substantial revenue generation.
The position assists and supports the Vice President, Business Development and Community Initiatives in the identification, development, implementation, and assessment of strategies, structures, policies and procedures to increase revenue generation at MITT.
As a key external representative of the College, the Director will utilize excellent judgment to develop credible and meaningful relationships with business, industry and community ensuring strictest confidentiality.
They will work closely with the Sr. Manager, Workforce Development and Community Initiatives, Director, Career Development Experiential and Lifelong Learning, and Manager, International Recruitment and Partnerships.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to :
Manage and supervise personnel and complete all administrative functions for staff (i.e., talent management; performance management, which includes annual reviews / discipline;
training and professional development; and time management).
Leads and Manages programs and resources; human and financial to achieve the strategic goals and objectives of the division and therefore the Institution’s success
- Works as part of the team of the Vice President, Business Development and Community Initiatives to further and develop the aims of the area.
- Ensures that strategic goals are understood by staff and that goals are met.
- Communicates pathway programs strategies and approaches to various areas of MITT with the goal of promoting alignment in revenue generation efforts.
- Is responsible for development and disbursement of all departmental budgets.
- Ensures that records, reports and files are efficiently and accurately maintained.
- Responsible for both the development of overall and specific strategic plans for the unit and participates in overall strategic planning for the area.
- Represents the Pathway Programs team on all external and internal committees.
Customer relationship management, and institutional relations including local and international partners such as school divisions and recruitment agents.
- Lead, direct and manage a team of managers and ALC education directors to successfully meet and / or exceed business development goals and objectives.
- Provides strategic leadership, relationship building opportunities and confidential negotiations on contractual arrangements with individuals, government and non-governmental bodies.
- Business development and management including contract and customized training in conjunction with academic and workforce development teams.
- Maintaining a high level of knowledge of current educational trends and demographics nationally and internationally.
- Develop standardized systems, processes, policies and procedures to support operational imperatives.
Required Qualifications and Experience :
A combination of related education and experience may be considered.
- Post-secondary level studies in education or a relevant field. (Graduate studies level preferred in Education.) A combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
- 5+ years of related work experience, including at least 3 years of diversified management experience in the education field.
- Demonstrated ability to formulate policy and negotiate educational contracts in changing national and international markets.
- Knowledge of the local and national secondary and post-secondary school systems.
- Knowledge of national and international student recruitment and retention.
- Experience in high school, continuing education and post-secondary settings.
- An understanding of other cultures and strong intercultural communications skills.
- Operational knowledge of English language assessments and processes.
- Operational knowledge of Andragogy assessment and processes.
- Proven track record of leadership and management of a team of staff in a variety of functions.
- Experience in prudent fiscal accountability and budget administration.
- Knowledge of federal and provincial immigration policies and processes including the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program an asset.
- Proficiency in technology including the use of Microsoft Office Suite programs.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience :
- Experience with unionized and non-unionized staffing environments
- Familiarity with different education systems in major international student source countries considered an asset.
- Experience working in a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system considered an asset.
