Course description : The practical, interdisciplinary and controversial nature of environmental issues, as well as the uncertainty that surrounds measures to address them, demand mastery of a particular range of skills by environmental students.

This course teaches the fundamental research, analysis and presentation skills required for effective environmental work.

This course is for students enrolled in the Environmental Studies Major program, or permission of the Undergraduate Associate Director.

Estimated enrolment : 110 Estimated

TA support : 110 hours

Sessional Dates of Appointment : September 1, 2024 - December 31, 2024

Class schedule : Lectures, Thursday, 10 am - 12 pm.

  • Salary : Sessional Lecturer I - $9457.90; Sessional Lecturer I Long Term - $9930.79;
  • Sessional Lecturer II - $10121.77; Sessional Lecturer II Long Term - $10326.62;

Sessional Lecturer III - $10376.26; Sessional Lecturer III Long Term - $10570.02

These salaries are inclusive of vacation pay. Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

Qualifications : PhD or masters with equivalent professional and / or academic experience required. Understanding of the fundamental research, analysis and presentation skills required for effective environmental work;

relevant academic or professional publications.

Preferred Qualifications : Previous experience teaching a similar course is desirable .

Description of Duties : to teach the course; to develop and revise course curriculum; deliver weekly lectures or arrange guest lecturers;

arrange required readings; hold online and / or in-person office hours; evaluate student performance.
