Course Title : MHI2007H Quantitative Skills in Health Informatics
Course Description :
This course is designed to give students a working knowledge of different types of data in healthcare, health data governance, data privacy, data standards, data quality, and selected applied statistical techniques relevant to healthcare settings.
Through this course, students will review common statistical methods used in health research and get familiarized with using SAS to implement these methods for data analysis.
In addition, students will learn about clinical data sciences. The emphasis will be placed on the fundamental of clinical data sciences, related skills and conceptual understanding of data analytics techniques (Regex, SQL, RapidMiner).
The goal is for students to gain experience in practical statistical and data analytics techniques to handle and manage their daily professional tasks.

Qualifications :
- PhD or Masters level education in Measurement and Evaluation, Statistics or related field;
- Demonstrated experience conducting research projects requiring quantitative, qualitative and mixed research methodology;
- Experience in design and implementation of data collection instruments and effective methods for communicating research results;
- Experience teaching graduate-level courses, preferably in research methodology and / or statistics related field;
- Demonstrated ability to relate to mature students and facilitate group learning processes;
- Comfortable with electronic teaching tools such as Learning Management Systems (e.g., Quercus), PowerPoint, as well as on-line collaboration tools (Blogs, Wikkis, Discussion Boards, Webinars, or Video-conferencing).
Duties :
- Course instructor for a professional graduate course using competency-based learning and assessment methods.
- Responsible for course design and assessment of student outcomes. Must be accessible to students outside of classroom hours.
Salary : Commensurate with experience and qualifications

Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14 : 12 of the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 collective agreement.
