Scope of the Position
The Automation Technician’s role is to support and initiate automation programs throughout the facility by implementing and maintaining automation projects and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Test, troubleshoot, and oversee implementation of new processes
- Install retrofits to existing systems and troubleshoot hardware, software, and instrument problems
- Supports start-up activities
- Develop new automation processes;
- Develop and implement training programs for all new equipment and automation cells;
- Over-see testing procedures, writing reports and making sure that the instruments you develop comply with quality standards and safety regulations.
- Install, diagnose and fix programmable logic controllers and other devices that operate automated equipment.
- PLC, robot and HMI programming, implementation and troubleshooting
- Preventative maintenance of production and support equipment
- Repair of equipment
- Establishing and bring all equipment up to both mechanical and electrical standards
- Assist in proper maintenance of all programming software, application files and programming hardware
- Responsible to improve equipment reliability and uptime related to automation and controls
- Implementation of Continuous Improvement Ideas related to automation and robotics as assigned
- Other duties as assigned
- The incumbent is responsible for the awareness, understanding, specific responsibilities and management of the Environmental Management System (EMS) as stated in EMS policy CEVPL.00005.
- The incumbent is responsible for the awareness, understanding, specific responsibilities and management of the Quality Management System (QMS) as stated in CQAM.

Working Conditions

Qualifications
- Graduate of Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technology (Robot and Automation Program) or Completion of a 2-year degree or technical certificate program
- Manufacturing experience and a strong technical knowledge in the programming, installation, configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment
- Knowledge of PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens), Robotics (Nachi, ABB, Fanuc), HMI programming, Vision Systems (Cognex, Keyence, Omron)
- Superior analytical capabilities
- Problem-solving and decision-making
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Exhibit initiative, responsibility, flexibility and leadership
- Ability to manage multiple projects
