Job description

HireArt is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company find a Technical Writer (Contract) to author, edit, and publish comprehensive documentation supporting the manufacturing and serviceability processes and procedures for their autonomous vehicle production and maintenance.

In this role, you’ll work cross-functionally with engineers and project managers to define requirements, gather technical input, and deliver clear and concise documentation to ensure operational efficiency and product quality.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years of technical writing experience in manufacturing or a similar environment. You bring strong writing skills and attention to detail, along with the ability to craft clear and compelling technical content.

As a Technical Writer, you'll:
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and managers to understand project requirements and concepts thoroughly.
  • Coordinate with technical program managers and leadership to ensure the consistency of documentation standards, styles, and priorities.
  • Strategize and deliver documentation guides in accordance with project timelines.
  • Demonstrate exceptional verbal and written communication skills, crafting compelling technical content, and exhibit strong time management abilities.
  • Develop digital documentation, including images, while adhering to established style and platform standards.
  • Develop web-based training using Articulate.
  • Partner with technicians and engineers to gain a comprehensive understanding of process intricacies and fulfill objectives.
  • Solicit and integrate customer feedback on documentation to optimize usability.
  • Drive completion of projects and tasks.
  • Travel between worksites (approximately 50% Foster City and 50% Hayward).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in writing and editing
  • 6 + years of experience as a technical writer, preferably in manufacturing procedures
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Oxygen XML Editor, MS Office, Google Suite, and Adobe (Photoshop, Acrobat)
  • Ability to capture and enhance digital photographs
  • Capability to manage workload efficiently amidst changing priorities while meeting project deadlines
  • Ability to travel between Foster City and Hayward (approximately 50% each)

Bonus Qualifications:
  • Experience with manufacturing content in the automotive or EV industries, and/or high-tech sectors
  • Familiarity with Dozuki, Articulate, Slack, CATIA, JIRA, Confluence, document management tools, and PLM
  • Technical acumen in electrical, mechanical, automotive, and/or sensor hardware

Benefits:
  • Pre-tax commuter benefits
  • Employer (HireArt) Subsidized healthcare benefits (eligibility begins on the first of the month following 60 days of service)
  • Flexible Spending Account for healthcare-related costs
  • HireArt covers all costs for short and long-term disability and life insurance
  • 401k package

Commitment: This is a full-time, ongoing contract position staffed via HireArt. It will be onsite and available to candidates who are local to the Hayward CA area.

HireArt values diversity and is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We are interested in every qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. Unfortunately, we are not able to sponsor visas or employ corp-to-corp.
