Job Summary :
Notre Dame is seeking a reliable and motivated Mechanic Assistant to support our Mechanic Teacher in maintaining a safe, productive, and educational shop environment. This position involves assisting with supervision of students, performing data entry, and offering hands-on support in a mechanical shop setting.
Key Responsibilities :
Assist the mechanic teacher in supervising students during hands-on activities.
Help maintain tools, equipment, and the overall cleanliness of the shop.
Perform basic data entry for shop projects, inventory management, and student progress reports.
Demonstrate and guide students in the proper use of tools and machinery.
Support in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical systems as needed.
Ensure safety protocols are followed at all times in the shop.
Help with setup and teardown of classroom / shop projects.
Qualifications :
Familiarity with basic mechanical concepts and systems.
Familiarity with basic automotive maintenance procedure
Familiarity with automotive service equipment (tire mounting and balancing equipment, hoists, service tools)
Good with hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment.
Ability to work well in a team and interact positively with high school students.
Basic computer skills for data entry and inventory management.
Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety standards.
Previous experience in a mechanical or shop setting is a plus.
Preferred Skills :
Familiarity with industry safety standards (OH&S)
Knowledge of mechanical systems, engines, or related trades.
Experience in a school or educational setting is desirable but not required.
