Job descriptionProficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Proficient in logistics software, preferably SAP and TMS. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Highly organized with effective time-management skills. Knowledge of national geography and route information. Excellent negotiation and analytical skills. Post-secondary education; college diploma in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Business Administration preferred. Minimum 5+ years of experience in a logistics mandate within distribution, including dispatching / warehousing, preferably in the chemical industry. Responsibilities
- Ensures safety is the priority and that all activities are conducted in accordance with quality, health, safety and environmental management system as well as corporate and local policies.
- Contributes to the delivery of service excellence to both internal and external customer groups.
- Manages Canada-wide transportation planning with a focus on national inbound freight compliance with DOT, OSHA, and Brenntag safety regulations.
- Develops, recommends, and assists the Senior Manager Transportation with national planning strategies and optimizes routing, scheduling and load planning to reduce costs.
- Provides effective and timely communications and direction to the regional businesses with respect to all logistics, transportation, and carrier initiatives.
- Monitors carrier performance, ensuring on-time delivery and pickup compliance.
- Benchmarks carrier performance with the objective of improving safety, delivery efficiencies and return on investment.
- Supports Operations with all rail-related issues, such as site demurrage, disputed invoices, and engaging CN / CP Account Reps when needed.
- Creates and maintains transportation-related SOPs.
- Supervises, develops and performance-manages a team of Transportation Planners.
