Role :

The Program Manager manages a program, or an element of a program, to meet customer and Company expectations. A broader objective of this position is to support the Company's growth by undertaking tasks that may not have a direct bearing on the management of the program (e.g. interaction with senior management and line management on operational issues identified on the program).

Responsibilities

• Ensure correct staffing levels on programs and competency matching the project’s needs.
• Review requests from line management, apply and organize the required resources to manage the program in its entirety. This may require negotiation with line managers or other programs for conflicting resource requirements, which should always be done with the Company overall interests in mind. Negotiate, discuss and reach agreement with the customer with respect to the key requirements and objectives of the program, as well as the funding, resources and methods required. In many cases these will be in conflict, and the Program Manager must maintain a diplomatic and persuasive approach to maintain a balance between what can be achieved for the budget and schedule provided, while maintaining the interests of the Company. Prepare detailed schedules to track the program progress on a day-to-day basis, hold frequent and regular assessments of costs to date and estimates to complete, and develop work-around plans as required to achieve cost and schedule objectives. Identify and manage program risks and opportunities. Maintain hands-on control of the program through a process of regular program reviews, design reviews and audits, workarounds plan meetings, staff meetings, program meetings and the like.
• Provide technical and administrative guidance, direction and decision-making to the program team. Maintain program visibility at the customer level through regular technical, management, and progress meetings.
• Maintain visibility of the program to senior management through monthly program reviews and briefings as needed on subjects of importance to the Company. Develop a cadre of capable subcontractors and suppliers in conjunction with the supply chain that will ensure meeting supply requirements throughout the life of the program.
