Job description

We are currently looking for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Technician / Millwright for an industrial facility in Nisku, AB.

This role is primarily mechanical, but there is some overlap with basic electrical work. A dual ticket is not required, but basic electrical knowledge is considered an asset, such as replacing motors, troubleshooting sensors, basic wiring, and replacing similar electrical components.

The successful candidate will perform mechanical and electrical repairs on production equipment, including CNC lathes, conveyors, swaging machines, bandsaws, phosphate tanks, pneumatic tools, hydraulic equipment, motors, generators, alternators, and control systems.

Location: Nisku, AB
Wage: Up to $48.80/hour, depending on experience and qualifications
Position Type: Industrial Maintenance / Safety-Sensitive Role

Please note: Candidates must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and fit test.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical and electrical repairs on production equipment
  • Diagnose equipment failures and complete repairs on production machinery
  • Repair hydraulic cylinders, actuators, pneumatics, and rotating equipment
  • Read and interpret parts drawings, electrical drawings, charts, and tables
  • Install, replace, or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, CAT5 cables, coaxial cables, lighting fixtures, and other components
  • Test electrical and electronic equipment for continuity, current, voltage, and resistance
  • Maintain, repair, test, and install motors, generators, alternators, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic electrical control systems
  • Operate forklift and overhead crane as required
  • Complete routine lubrication, cleaning, preventative maintenance inspections, and repairs
  • Communicate with operations and provide technical advice on equipment operation
  • Support spare parts and replacement part inventory planning
  • Report and troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment
  • Participate in training and continuous improvement activities
  • Follow all workplace safety policies, regulations, and compliance requirements
  • Participate in safety meetings and hazard identification
  • Perform warehouse maintenance, housekeeping, and administrative duties as required

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of maintenance experience in an industrial setting
  • Journeyperson Mechanic / Millwright Certificate required
  • Journeyperson Electrician Certificate is considered an asset
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting experience is an asset
  • Experience with CNC equipment, conveyors, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and production machinery preferred
  • Ability to work varied hours, including on-call and weekends, depending on business needs
  • Able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and fit test
