Job description

The Manufacturing Technologist is responsible for driving process improvement/control and operational excellence on the shop floor by leveraging quality data, failure mode analysis, and direct engagement with production associates. This role is highly hands-on, spending the majority of time on the floor to enhance safety, improve process control, increase efficiency, and simplify manufacturing for our teams.

Core Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Analyze quality data and failure modes to identify process control gaps and implement corrective actions.
  • Partner with shop floor personnel to improve safety, ergonomics, and ease of manufacturing.
  • Develop and maintain clear, accurate, and user-friendly work instructions.
  • Design and improve tooling, fixturing, and equipment to support reliable and efficient operations.
  • Lead structured problem-solving efforts focused on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC).
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Quality, Maintenance, and Operations to implement sustainable improvements.
  • Support and advance the Mirion Factory Development System (MFDS) through problem solving to enable continuous improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities – Safety & Quality

  • All employees are expected to follow government and corporate laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • All Cambridge employees play a role in the implementation of the site Quality and Safety Policy, which outlines a safe work environment as the foundation for the business unit’s goal to create a positive customer experience.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • No direct supervisory responsibilities.

Skill/Knowledge & Other Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in manufacturing engineering or mechanical engineering.
  • Certification by a recognized board such as the American Society for Quality (ASQ CSQP) or Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) is a plus.
  • Five (5) years of progressive work experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with welding, general fixturing and swaging (preferred not required).
  • Ability to establish goals, structures, and processes necessary to successfully complete projects.
  • Ability to interpret and problem solve engineering drawings.
  • Ability to develop and work with recordkeeping and data management systems and related software applications.
  • Advanced knowledge of manufacturing and production processes.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with key internal and external personnel.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others and demonstrate professional, ethical, respectful, and courteous behavior when interacting with others.
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office applications: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing.
  • Ability to make decisions and multi-task.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Strong presentation and training skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills to diagnose and solve problems.
  • Excelled knowledge of English (written and oral).
