About the role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular full-time Technical Supervisor to join our dynamic Testing team.
The Testing team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by testing, investigating and performing procedures. In this role, you will co-ordinate the daily testing activities and perform procedures following work instructions related to the testing laboratory.
Formula for success
- Leveraging your process management expertise, you will manage the laboratory process flows to meet customer needs and monitor operational effectiveness through key performance indicators and other metrics.
- Ensuring regulatory alignment, you will monitor and report on compliance with corporate quality standards for laboratory areas.
- Utilizing strategic facility oversight, you will assist with the management of the testing facility and equipment to ensure there is adequate space for current and future testing needs, that equipment is appropriate for testing and meets specifications and regulatory requirements, that environmental requirements are met, and ensure that facility occupational health and safety requirements are upheld.
- Driving team performance, you will manage technical and support staff assigned to the testing laboratory.
- Contributing to continuous improvement, you will participate in ongoing quality improvement activities, special projects, and conducts regular reviews of operations.
Desired education and skills
Certified general registered technologist with Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS).
BSc, ART or SBB, and including 6 months of supervisory experience.
A minimum of five (5) years related laboratory experience in area of key accountabilities including a minimum of three years supervisory/managerial experience and management training, preferably in a unionized environment.
Experience in the training/scheduling/evaluating personnel, development, writing and implementation of work instructions.
Previous GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) experience or in-depth knowledge of comparable quality management systems.
Demonstrated strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
Demonstrated attention to detail and an ability to perform detailed documentation in an accurate and legible manner.
