Job description

Audiologist- Infant Hearing Program Temporary Full Time (37.5 hours/week) until September 17, 2027 Brampton Site Work Arrangement: On-Site Replacement Position Compensation Range: $45.80 - $53.87/hour Position Summary: ErinoakKids Centre for Treatment and Development is seeking an Audiologist to join the Infant Hearing Program (IHP) team in a temporary full-time replacement position.

ErinoakKids is the lead agency for Ontario’s Infant Hearing Program in the Central West Region, which includes Halton, Peel, Waterloo, Wellington and Dufferin.

The program provides hearing screening, diagnostic audiology, amplification management, and family-centred early intervention services for infants and young children from birth to six years of age.

More than 30,000 newborns access hearing screening within the Central West region each year.

Early detection and timely intervention are essential to support optimal communication, language, learning, and developmental outcomes for children with permanent hearing loss.

The successful candidate will work as part of an inter-professional team to provide evidence-based paediatric audiology services, family education, and coordinated care.

All IHP audiologists must complete training in required IHP protocols to practice in this area.

Training will be provided as part of employment, as needed.

Travel between ErinoakKids sites may be required, with an optional one day/week to support the Guelph location.

Key Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive paediatric audiological assessments in accordance with Infant Hearing Program protocols.

Perform age-appropriate behavioural hearing assessments, including Visual Reinforcement Audiometry (VRA) and Conditioned Play Audiometry (CPA).

Interpret assessment results and communicate findings clearly and sensitively to families and caregivers.

Provide family-centred counselling and education regarding hearing status, communication development, amplification options, and available support.

Prescribe, fit, verify and monitor hearing technology in accordance with IHP protocols and clinical best practices.

Collaborate with Screeners, Audiologists, Speech-Language Pathologists, ASL Consultants, Social Workers, community partners including Physicians and Hearing Instrument Specialists to support coordinated care.

Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, reporting, and data collection requirements.

Participate in quality improvement activities, program development and implementation of clinical best practices.

Complete Ministry-required Infant Hearing Program training and maintain competency in applicable IHP protocols.

Qualifications: Required Master’s Degree in Audiology.

Registration and be in good standing with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO).

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with infants, children, caregivers, families, and staff.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of an inter-professional team and establish positive relationships with clients, families and members of the child’s care team.

Well-developed clinical skills, sound clinical judgement, thoroughness, accuracy, attention to detail, and commitment to quality improvement required.

Ability to support other ErinoakKids sites as demand requires.

Ability to complete other related duties as assigned.

Preferred Experience working with infants, toddlers, preschool-aged children, and families.

Minimum one-year relevant paediatric audiology experience.

Experience conducting behavioural hearing assessments using Visual Reinforcement Audiometry (VRA) and Conditioned Play Audiometry (CPA).

Experience with paediatric hearing aid selection, fitting, verification and follow-up.

Experience working with children with complex developmental, medical or communication needs.

Familiarity with Ontario’s Infant Hearing Program protocols and family-centred care principles.
