Job description
General Manager — Nation Constructors Group Inc. Location: Prince Albert, Saskatchewan (office-based, with flexibility to work remotely) Job Type: Full-time — open to either employment or an independent contract engagement Compensation: $150,000–$200,000 per year (full-time salaried); negotiable hourly rate for a consulting/contract arrangement Reports To: Ownership About Nation Constructors Group Nation Constructors Group Inc. (NCG) is a growing general contractor delivering construction and civil projects across Saskatchewan. We build more than projects — we build strong, lasting relationships with our clients, our partners, and the communities we work in, anchored by a deep commitment to meaningful Indigenous engagement and partnership on the work we take on. As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced leader to take ownership of our day-to-day operations and help drive the company's next chapter. The Opportunity We are seeking a General Manager to lead Nation Constructors Group. Reporting to ownership, the General Manager holds overall responsibility for the company's operations, growth, and project delivery — from winning new work and overseeing estimating and tenders, through to project execution, financial performance, safety, and team development. This is a senior leadership role for someone who can set strategy while staying close to the details that make construction projects succeed. The role can be structured as full-time employment or as an independent contract engagement, depending on the best fit for the successful candidate. Key Responsibilities Business Development & Client Relationships · Source new work opportunities with new and existing clients, pursuing results in line with the company's annual business plan. · Establish and maintain relationships with public and private sector clients, joint-venture and financing partners, key subcontractors, design teams, and suppliers. · Proactively seek new business through relationships and participation in industry, client, and community events. · Lead the marketing of NCG's capabilities and direct the development of marketing materials and plans. Estimating, Tendering & Project Pursuit · Oversee the estimating process, using experience and judgment to select the right pursuits and to identify and mitigate risk. · Oversee all project estimates, tenders, submissions, and proposals. · Review contract documents to ensure deliverables, terms, and risks are clearly understood — including bonds, fees, notifications, schedules, and reporting requirements. Project Oversight & Delivery · Ensure project schedules, milestone dates, and closeout checklists are prepared and maintained throughout each project's lifecycle. · Direct and approve the resources required for projects — people, tools, equipment, materials, and internal/external services. · Communicate objectives for critical milestones, budget, schedule, and client satisfaction to project teams. · Oversee and understand the commitments being made to clients and the associated risks. Financial Management & Reporting · Assume responsibility for the profit-and-loss performance of the project portfolio. · Assist in preparing, revising, and monitoring project budgets and cost reports; oversee forecasts and prepare variance reports. · Develop and recommend short-term operating budgets and conduct longer-term planning, reviewing the company's financial position on a regular basis. · Develop regular status reports for ownership, detailing project status and recommending actions to be taken. Health, Safety & Quality · Lead, promote, and maintain a positive safety culture, monitoring and measuring HSE goals without compromise. · Take responsibility for the development, implementation, and execution of Project-Specific Safety Plans. · Promote responsibility for health and safety in line with client requirements and all applicable Occupational Health & Safety regulations. Leadership & Team Development · Develop staffing and resources in line with the approved business plan to support the company's growth. · Lead employee training, growth, and development, with a focus on maintaining strong Indigenous engagement within the workforce. · Foster a culture of accountability with clear expectations tied to project priorities. Qualifications · Significant senior leadership experience in construction, civil works, or general contracting, including operational and profit-and-loss responsibility. · Strong background in estimating, tendering, and construction project management. · Demonstrated business development track record, with the ability to build and maintain client and partner relationships. · Sound understanding of construction contracts, bonding, and project controls. · Experience working with Indigenous communities and partnerships is a strong asset. · Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. · Post-secondary education in engineering, business, or a related field (or equivalent experience). A P.Eng., PMP, Gold Seal, or similar designation is an asset. · Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites and client meetings as required. What We Offer · The opportunity to lead and shape a growing construction company with a meaningful mission. · Flexible engagement — structured as full-time employment or an independent contract to suit the right candidate. · Competitive compensation: $150,000–$200,000 per year for a full-time salaried role, or a negotiable hourly rate for a consulting arrangement. · A Prince Albert, Saskatchewan office base with the flexibility to work remotely. · Supportive ownership and the autonomy to make a real impact. How to Apply - Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter to admin@nc-group.ca. We thank all applicants for their interest; only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
