Job Description

:

Work Your Way. A National Client Base. A Sales Career With Purpose.

Sun Life is growing its Group Retirement Services team and is looking for talented, licensed Retirement Consultants to join us in British Columbia or Alberta.

In this sales-focused role, you'll connect with existing members of Sun Life Group Retirement Savings plans across Canada, helping them make informed decisions about their financial future. You'll build meaningful client relationships, deliver tailored solutions, and contribute to the success of one of Canada's most trusted financial services organizations.

We offer flexibility in how you work. If you live within reasonable commuting distance of one of our offices in Calgary, Edmonton, or Vancouver, you'll work in a hybrid model and join your colleagues in the office one day per week. If you live outside commuting distance, you'll work remotely from your home office while remaining fully connected to your team and clients.

This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys sales, is motivated by results, and is passionate about helping clients achieve their retirement goals. You'll benefit from an established client base, comprehensive training and development, competitive compensation, and industry-leading incentive opportunities.

If you're client-focused, driven to succeed, and ready to grow your career with a leading financial services organization, we encourage you to apply.

Make an Impact Where It Matters Most!

At Sun Life, clients are at the heart of everything we do, and as a licensed Retirement Consultant, you’ll play a front‑line role in helping them feel confident about what’s next. On our Client Solutions team, you’ll connect with Sun Life clients by phone, listen closely to their goals, and deliver tailored retirement recommendations that fit their stage of life.

This is more than a sales role. It’s about building trust, simplifying complex financial choices, and making a real difference in people’s lives every day.

What you’ll do

  • Build meaningful relationships with Group Retirement Savings plan members through proactive outreach

  • Guide clients through retirement planning conversations, helping them understand their options and feel confident in their decisions

  • Provide personalized financial advice aligned to each client’s goals, life stage, and needs

  • Translate complex financial concepts into simple, relatable guidance

  • Stay curious and continuously learn, keeping up to date on products, tools, and industry trends

  • Contribute to a supportive, high-performing team where success is shared and celebrated

Why this role is special: This role is focused on supporting and advising existing Sun Life clients, allowing you to build meaningful relationships without the need for cold calling or new client prospecting.

What you bring

We’re looking for people who are curious, driven, and care about making a difference.

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, you connect easily and authentically

  • A natural ability to listen, understand, and guide others

  • Self motivated and can work independently

  • Minimum of 1-3 years of related sales experience in the financial services industry is preferred.

  • Confidence to ask questions and uncover client needs

  • A growth mindset: you’re motivated to learn and improve

  • Experience in sales or financial services is an asset, but not required

  • Valid and active Life Insurance License (LLQP)

Assets

  • Experience selling wealth products over the phone

  • Completion of a college or university degree

  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation or Financial planner designation (IQPF)

  • Canadian Securities Course (CSC)

  • Canadian Investment Fund Course (IFIC)

Why Join Sun Life

  • Career growth & development – clear pathways and ongoing learning

  • Flexibility & wellbeing – hybrid work and programs that support your whole self

  • Competitive base salary with a quarterly bonus based on sales results.

  • Inclusive culture – where diverse perspectives are valued and voices are heard

  • Top performers don't just get recognized—they get rewarded. Excel in your role and earn an exclusive platinum leadership trip, where high achievers connect with senior leaders and celebrate outstanding results together.

  • Purpose-driven work – helping Canadians build financial security

  • Comprehensive flexible benefits program including:

  • Medical, dental, life, critical illness and disability insurance

    Robust defined contribution pension plan

Matching Stock Ownership and Savings Programs

Sun Life employees are eligible for a paid sabbatical leave, every 5-year milestone anniversary

Tuition assistance and Licensing fees covered

Sun Life offers a market-competitive total compensation package, including a base salary and variable incentives. This role is eligible to participate in a sales incentive plan with industry-leading incentive payout opportunities.

Salary Range:

$ 60,000/ $ 97,000
