Job descriptionCurrent enrollment in (or graduate in 2025) in a recreation and Leisure Program Kinesiology Program or social services program. Have an ability to work from an antiracist / antioppressive approach Belief in and understanding of Recovery Knowledge of recreation opportunities Able to work both individually and as part of a team Proven ability to encourage and motivate change Creative innovative flexible personality with the ability to multitask. Respectful and compassionate demeanor Drivers licence preferred and a vehicle available for work Must have CPR and First Aid or willingness to obtain Applicants may be more than 30 years of age at the end of the employment period as long as they were 30 at the beginning of the employment period. Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations. As per the Summer Canada Jobs Program criteria : Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa youth visa or work visa are ineligible.

This summer student opportunity is with our Good Shepherd HOMES Niagara Falls
How You Will Make an Impact
- Support and encourage attendance and participation in programs
- Participate in programs as a role model mentor and coach to tenants.
- Work with recreation supervisor teams and tenants in program development and implementation
- Lead recreation programs onsites Good Food Box program trips outings and volunteer programs.
- Work with recreation supervisor to identify participant needs.
- Communicate and collaborate with Good Shepherd staff community mental health agencies and community partners.

This temporary fulltime position is funded by Service Canada for youth between the ages of 15 to 30 years of age.
International students are not eligible participants. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen permanent resident or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.
