Step Into Your Future with CommBank's Indigenous School-Based Traineeship

  • Interested in learning, earning and gaining real-world experience while you're still at school?
  • Ready to build new skills, grow your confidence and get a head start on your future?
  • Want to be part of a supportive team that celebrates your culture and helps you succeed?

At CommBank, we're proud to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students through our Indigenous School-Based Traineeship Program.

This is more than just work experience. It's a chance to build confidence, learn new skills, meet great people and take positive steps towards your future while you're still at school.

What's in it for you?

As a trainee, you'll:

  • Work, learn and earn while finishing school
  • Gain real workplace experience with one of Australia's largest and most trusted organisations
  • Complete a nationally recognised qualification
  • Receive credits towards your HSC, VCE, TCE or equivalent senior school certificate
  • Develop valuable skills that can help set you up for future study, employment and career opportunities

More Than Just Work Experience

Throughout the program, you'll have support every step of the way, including:

  • Support and mentoring from your Group Training Organisation (GTO)
  • Monthly Yarning Circles where you can connect with other Indigenous employees and trainees
  • Industry-recognised certifications to strengthen your resume
  • Opportunities to meet and learn from leaders and employees across CommBank
  • A supportive team that wants to see you succeed

Who Can Apply?

You may be eligible if you:

  • Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
  • Will be turning 16 in 2027
  • Are starting Year 11 or Year 12 in 2027
  • Be enthusiastic, reliable and eager to learn

📍 Locations available across Australia

We encourage applications from students living in metropolitan, regional and remote communities.

We'll Support You Along the Way

Starting something new can feel a little daunting, but you won't be doing it alone.

Our Indigenous Careers Team will support you throughout your journey — from applying for the program through to completing your traineeship.

We're committed to creating a workplace where you feel supported, can be yourself and have the opportunity to thrive.

Ready to Take the First Step?

No matter where you live in Australia, this could be the opportunity that helps kick-start your future.

We'd love to hear from you and help you explore what's possible through the CommBank Indigenous School-Based Traineeship Program.

Apply now and start building your future with CommBank.

Your future starts here.
