Job description

Carpenter

The ideal candidate will have the skills to cut, fabricate and install wooden and other structures according to drawings and specifications. The Carpenters goal will be to contribute to the construction and maintenance of buildings in the ICI sector.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret drawings, specifications and shop drawings.
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join assemblies made of wood, wood substitutes, light weight steel and other materials including material takeoffs.
  • Construct building frameworks including walls, floors and door frames etc.; install doors, frames, hardware etc.
  • Schedule and co-ordinate work on site.
  • Inspect and conduct repairs or maintenance.
  • Instruct and direct laborers and other construction helpers.
  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic.
  • Work with little supervision while following all health and safety standards is essential.

Experience / Requirements

  • 4+ years working as a carpenter.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction.
  • Proficient in using power, manual equipment and measurement tools.
  • Ability to read documents and drawings.
  • Follow Safety guidelines at all times.
  • Safety training – Provide all safety certificates; Abcott Construction will arrange for any mandatory training if required.
