Job description

About Us

The Miller Group, a subsidiary of Colas Canada, is a Canadian leader in the construction and maintenance of transportation infrastructure since 1917.
We provide exceptional customer service and operational support using our time-proven construction methods and innovative technologies, alongside the highest quality products and materials.
We leverage our global network to foster positive relationships that make a lasting difference in the communities where we live and work. Whether it is making your commute more efficient, keeping our communities safe, or making remote areas more accessible, at Miller we are proud to Build Greatness in everything we do.

Day in the Life

We’re seeking a Maintenance Lead for our Asphalt plant, the secret ingredient in our recipe for success! The oil that keeps our operation running smoothly, mixing, pouring, and paving the way to excellence. Embrace the heat, grit, and grind as you assist in the creation of every load in a step closer to building the roads of tomorrow. You will troubleshoot any plant issues that arise and maintain the plant on a daily basis, performing the routine and preventative maintenance of lubrication and conducting major and minor repairs. Attention to detail will be imperative when completing daily, weekly, and monthly equipment inspections and maintenance logs. You will also assist in the maintenance budget, source parts needed for general maintenance, and provide support and guidance to the plant Foreperson as needed. Communication with other team members, managers, and sub contractors for scheduling and establishing priorities as well as a safety focused mindset will be essential to ensure the highest quality of asphalt products. Every day you will lead by example by promoting, leading, and executing a Safety-First culture for all employees, sub-contractors, consultants, and the public.

Travel between New Brunswick and Nova Scotia will be required on a periodic basis for planned maintenance or operational support. Most travel will be day trips; however, occasional overnight stays, overtime, or weekend work may be required based on operational needs.

Requirements

  • Hands-on mechanical experience performing equipment troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and basic repairs
  • Ability to travel between New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Travel will involve periodic day trips or planned visits depending on operational needs and may require overnight stays
  • Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
  • Ability to work extended hours, overtime, and occasional weekends as operational needs dictate
  • Experience in an asphalt plant, quarry, or construction environment is an asset, but not required
  • Welding or electrical experience will be considered an asset
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with plant personnel, contractors, and management
  • Having a Fall Arrest certification and First Aid Training, or willingness to obtain them will be considered an asset
