Job description
We are seeking a highly accomplished and multi-faceted Senior Business Analyst for an enterprise-level contract opportunity based in Toronto. In this role, you will take on a premier analytical capacity within the application modernization and cloud platform streams, serving as a critical technical bridge between core business units, IT engineering teams, and enterprise architects.

As a principal technical analyst, you will spearhead legacy application discovery and oversee the strategic migration of legacy environments into modern, scalable ecosystems. Operating within a hybrid delivery model, you will provide deep functional expertise to optimize enterprise service management systems, align software portfolios with corporate roadmaps, and implement governance structures that streamline complex organizational workflows.

Location: Toronto, ON

Assignment Type: Hybrid (A minimum of 2 days onsite per week)

Contract Duration: 12 months

Advantages
Digital Transformation Leadership: Lead high-visibility legacy modernization strategies, converting outdated tech stacks into modern web and platform architectures.

Specialized Enterprise Platform Depth: Advance your professional portfolio with hands-on architectural and functional ownership of advanced enterprise platform modules, including CMDB, EA, and APM.

Strategic Roadmap Design: Shape long-term corporate blueprints by executing deep-dive gap analyses, application rationalization, and capability modeling.

Hybrid Work Flexibility: Maintain an excellent work-life balance through a structured schedule combining active onsite teamwork with remote delivery.

Responsibilities
Business & Technical Analysis
Conduct structured requirement gathering workshops with multi-disciplinary stakeholders to elicit complex operational needs.

Author detailed Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), Functional Specification Documents (FSDs), and technical user stories in strict alignment with enterprise standards.

Construct clear process maps, functional workflow diagrams, and comprehensive data flow documentation to illustrate current-state and target-state landscapes.

Perform meticulous gap, dependency, and impact analyses to evaluate proposed technical changes across business units.

Legacy Discovery & Assessment
Facilitate deep-dive discovery sessions to analyze legacy application architectures (including MS Access, VB6, PHP, and .NET configurations) and trace their ecosystem dependencies.

Define and recommend technical migration strategies—such as retiring, re-platforming, or rebuilding—based on commercial feasibility and strict business value modeling.

Cloud Platform Support & Governance
Provide daily functional and technical administration support for core enterprise service platform modules, specifically Configuration Management Databases (CMDB), Enterprise Architecture (EA), and Application Portfolio Management (APM).

Coordinate platform configuration and enhancement requests, ensuring all structural modifications align with established governance models and platform best practices.

Partner with technical developers and platform owners to design, review, and test complex platform integrations and data schemas.

Maintain highly accurate system documentation detailing custom configurations, specific code scripts, and automated validation workflows.

Participate actively in technical governance sessions and Change Advisory Board (CAB) reviews to support platform roadmap planning and automation opportunities.

Testing & Project Delivery Support
Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) cycles and coordinate end-to-end integration testing to verify that modernized software outputs meet all defined functional specifications.

Extract data and construct advanced queries utilizing SQL and related analytical tools to feed corporate performance reports and audit indicators.

Track project deliverables, map multi-workstream dependencies, and author proactive risk mitigation charts for delivery management.

Design polished end-user frameworks, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and interactive training guides to accelerate user adoption during rollout.

Qualifications
Core Technical & Professional Requirements
Education: Undergraduate degree in Information Technology Management, Business Management, or a related quantitative field.

Professional QA & BA Tenure: Minimum of 5 years of progressive, work-related experience operating as a Technical Business Analyst handling enterprise requirements gathering, process mapping, and data documentation.

Mandatory Professional Designation: Active Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) designation in good standing with the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA).

Platform Administration Depth: Proven hands-on experience supporting or administering specialized service management platforms, with explicit focus on Configuration Management Database (CMDB) environments and Enterprise Architecture (EA) components.

Methodology & Framework Fluency: Deep understanding of structured ITIL processes and IT Service Management (ITSM) operational frameworks.

Data Retrieval Capabilities: Highly proficient utilizing SQL or relational data querying tools to compile database analyses and interface reports.

Technical Architecture Acumen: Demonstrated background in technical troubleshooting, backend diagnostics, and analyzing integrations for enterprise software.

Preferred Assets
Platform Certifications: Valid platform credentials, such as Certified System Administrator (CSA) or Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS - APM or EA) designations, are highly desirable.

Advanced Architecture Awareness: Deep familiarity with data modeling design patterns, such as the Common Service Data Model (CSDM), alongside experience supporting Enterprise Architecture teams or application rationalization initiatives.

Strategic Business Acumen: Foundational knowledge of corporate IT strategies, business capability modeling, and managing complex stakeholder networks.

Professional Soft Skills
Analytical Problem Solving: Superior critical thinking and analytical reasoning capabilities to decompose complex technical blockages and propose automated solutions.

Communication & Synthesis: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with polished ease when translating complex technical constraints to non-technical business partners.

Collaborative Adaptability: A highly motivated, detail-oriented professional who operates fluidly inside cross-functional and multi-tenant delivery environments under tight deadlines.
