The ideal candidate will have a background or interest in Survalent’s core products—SCADA, OMS, and DMS, which support real-time electrical distribution network operations. In this role, the Development Analyst will collaborate closely with developers to enhance quality, manage issue triage, set priorities, and serve as the key liaison between the Support and QA teams. We’re looking for someone with experience in SCADA, OMS, or DMS and a strong interest in real-time systems. You should be comfortable with Jira, Confluence, agile practices, and skilled at troubleshooting and testing. Strong communication, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset are highly valued. If you’re eager to improve critical energy management systems and learn alongside experienced developers, this is a great opportunity! What will you be doing?
- Manage and review incoming requests, ensuring all reported bugs and issues are well-documented, reproducible, and “ready to start” according to established standards.
- Collaborate with Development, Product, QA, and Support teams to refine and clarify bug and enhancement requirements.
- Participate in triage meetings to prioritize incoming work and assist with appropriate task assignments.
- Serve as a technical point of contact for escalated issues from the Support team, providing analysis, guidance, and timely resolutions.
- Perform quality assurance activities for new features, including developing and executing test cases and contributing to implementation documentation.
- Participate in test execution and automation, including user acceptance (UA) and regression testing to ensure system reliability and stability.
- Support the team in maintaining agile processes by tracking progress, updating issue status, and communicating critical issues effectively.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of internal processes related to issue management, testing, and documentation.
- Other duties as required What are we looking for?
- Degree in Computer Science or Power Engineering or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience working with electrical distribution management software including SCADA, OMS, or DMS is preferred.
- Familiarity with real-time systems is an asset.
- Hands-on experience with Jira and Confluence for issue tracking, documentation, and agile workflows.
- Understanding of agile development methodologies (Scrum or Kanban).
- Strong communication skills, particularly written. Ability to document and communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Experience with automated testing tools.
- Ability to develop and execute test cases, perform regression testing, and conduct user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Knowledge of SQL and database systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL) is an asset.
