The Pathologists’ Assistant reports to the Team Lead or designate and works without general supervision (WWGS) when performing a variety of duties required with the gross examination of surgical and biopsy pathology specimens and post-mortem examinations for medical cases under the direction of a pathologist.

What you’ll do
- Perform gross examinations, detailed dissections, and dictation of surgical specimens, ensuring all crucial data is captured
- Obtains and review clinical history, laboratory data, x-rays and scans when relevant to the grossing of a specimen
- Work closely with pathologists to review challenging gross specimens, pertinent clinical data and take relevant sections to produce complete pathology reports
- Actively participate in Quality Management programs, providing insights to improve processes and outcomes.
- Communicates needs for new or updated equipment to supervisor and assists with equipment evaluation and selection.
