Are you passionate about security and network modernization? Join our Edmonton client on an initial 12-month contract as a Cisco Secure Workload Specialist and play a key role in implementing and supporting cutting-edge micro-segmentation solutions. In this role, you’ll help secure workloads across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments, ensuring robust policy enforcement and advanced threat protection. If you have hands-on experience with Cisco Secure Workload, this is your chance to contribute to a high-impact cybersecurity initiative.

Advantages

  • Work on a high-profile Zero Trust Network project with cutting-edge security technologies
  • Contribute to the security and resilience of critical IT infrastructure
  • Engage in hands-on implementation, troubleshooting, and optimization of Cisco Secure Workload
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a dynamic and supportive environment
  • Gain valuable experience working in a public sector setting with compliance-heavy security frameworks

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, and support Cisco Secure Workload to enhance security through micro-segmentation
  • Configure and enforce identity-based access controls and least-privilege policies across networks and applications
  • Monitor security events and analyze network traffic using tools such as Splunk, Cisco Secure Analytics, or Elastic Stack
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including network diagrams, security policies, and operational procedures
  • Lead and contribute to Zero Trust security projects while ensuring minimal operational disruption
  • Provide knowledge transfer and cross-training to team members on Zero Trust principles and security best practices
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve network and security issues in a fast-paced environment
  • Qualifications

    Mandatory Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (equivalencies will be considered).
  • 6 Years of proficiency in deploying / integrating monitoring tools such as Splunk, Cisco Secure Analytics, or Elastic Stack to ensure Zero Trust implementations are actively monitored and anomalies detected.
  • 5 Years of experience designing and deploying Zero Trust security models, especially NIST 800-207, including micro-segmentation, identity-based access controls, and least-privilege policies across networks and applications.
  • 5 Years of direct involvement in creating operational procedures, network diagrams, and policy frameworks tailored for Zero Trust implementations.
  • 5 Years of practical experience deploying, configuring, and managing Cisco Secure Workload, including application flow discovery, policy enforcement, and network segmentation.
  • 5 Years of implementing ZTNA solutions to replace traditional VPNs, ensuring secure remote access while adhering to Zero Trust principles.
  • Desirable Qualifications

  • Professional certification focused on Zero Trust principles, implementation, and maturity models, aligned with frameworks like NIST 800-207. Covers micro-segmentation, identity-based access controls, and Zero Trust maturity models.
  • Provides foundational knowledge on security operations, aligned with Zero Trust principles.
  • 6 Years of experience securing workloads in hybrid or multi-cloud environments, ensuring seamless integration of Zero Trust principles across on-premises and cloud platforms.
  • 8 Years of collaboration across teams. Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams (server, application, network, Cybersecurity teams, etc.) to implement Zero Trust solutions while minimizing operational disruptions.
  • 5 Years of experience with public sector or compliance-heavy environments (e.g., NIST, DoD, PCI-DSS).
  • 8 Years of experience in creating comprehensive documentation, including project plans, progress reports, and post-implementation evaluations.
  • 8 Years of ability to communicate Zero Trust design benefits, challenges, and status updates to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including executives.
  • 8 Years of experience in training teams and stakeholders on Zero Trust principles, policies, and tools to ensure alignment with organizational security goals.
