MILLWRIGHTSchool District No. 42 (SD42) meets the learning needs of approximately 16,000 students of all ages in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows, and is defined by its determination to keep student learning and growth at the heart of all its decisions. With an annual budget of over $200M and over 2,000 staff, the school district provides K-12 educational services in 22 elementary schools, six secondary schools, and two alternate schools. It also provides a variety of certificate programs and relevant quality life-long learning opportunities through Ridge Meadows College and Continuing Education. SD42 is looking for a qualified Millwright, to perform a variety of millwright tasks to ensure the safety and full use of buildings and facilities. The Millwright maintains, installs, repairs and tests stationary and mobile mechanical equipment and structures. This position lays out, reads and interprets plans, drawings and specifications of district buildings and facilities in accordance with by-laws and codes. This is a full-time, continuing position effective March 18, 2024, working day shift following a 12 month schedule. The successful applicant will possess : Appropriate Trades Qualification (TQ) Certificate (Millwright, Machinist or Welding) plus two (2) years’ experience in a maintenance environment after completion of the TQ. Sufficient physical strength, health and coordination to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and harmoniously with staff, students, parents, contractors and outside agencies, and the ability to work at the level of independence and with the degree of initiative appropriate to the position. A valid BC driver’s license. This is a full time continuing position beginning as soon as possible, working 40 hours per week, following a 12 month schedule. The hourly rate of pay is $39.63 per hour plus a comprehensive benefits package.
