Job description

Requisition ID: 256439

Join a purpose driven winning team, committed to results, in an inclusive and high-performing culture.

Scotia Jarislowsky Fraser (SJF) is expanding and hiring across multiple roles supporting our Total Wealth and discretionary investment management offering. Whether you are a licensed Portfolio Manager, an emerging Associate Portfolio Manager, or a relationship focused Wealth Manager committed towards becoming registered as an APM then PM, we welcome exceptional candidates who are passionate about serving high-net- worth (HNW) and ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) clients.

The scope of discretionary authority and portfolio management responsibility varies by licensing level and registration with provincial securities regulators, but ownership of client relationships and business development expectations apply across all roles.

Candidates will be assessed for the role that best aligns with their experience, licensing, and career trajectory.

Core Responsibilities Shared Across All Roles

Business Development & Growth

  • Acquire new HNW and UHNW clients through proactive prospecting, referrals, networking, and centres of influence.
  • Develop and execute client‑acquisition strategies aligned with market opportunities and business objectives.
  • Maintain a disciplined and well‑documented prospect pipeline to support sustainable, profitable growth.
  • Identify opportunities to consolidate assets, deepen client relationships, and increase share of wallet across the client lifecycle.

Client Relationship Management & Advice

  • Develop deep, long-term client relationships through ongoing life based discovery.
  • Gain an intimate understanding of clients’ goals, circumstances, values, and evolving wealth needs.
  • Deliver holistic wealth advice that integrates investments, planning, tax, insurance, and banking solutions.
  • Proactively identify gaps, risks, and opportunities to enhance client outcomes and experience.
  • Act as the central relationship owner and trusted advisor for clients.
  • Represent SJF internally and externally with professionalism, credibility, and a strong growth mindset.

Risk, Compliance & Professional Standards

  • Ensure complete, accurate, and up to date KYC/IPQ documentation.
  • Maintain ongoing suitability of strategies and recommendations as client circumstances evolve.
  • Operate with strict adherence with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and conduct standards.
  • Uphold SJF’s values of integrity, professionalism, and client first decision making.

Team & Culture

  • Collaborate closely with the CRIA team who supports APM and PM development and other Total Wealth partners to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Contribute to a high-performance, inclusive, and growth oriented team culture.
  • Share knowledge, support team initiatives, and participate actively in meetings and development activities.

  • Minimum 5+ years of discretionary portfolio management experience.
  • Post‑secondary degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field.

2. Associate Portfolio Manager – SJF (AAR Registered, Development Toward Full PM Licensing) – L7

Who This Role Is For

Professionals who are AAR licensed with the provincial securities regulator and on the pathway to Portfolio Manager registration possessing strong investment knowledge and want to grow within SJF’s Total Wealth environment.

What You Bring

  • Strong client relationship and communication skills.

3. Wealth Manager – SJF (Non-Registrant Relationship Lead) – L8

  • Interest in pursuing CFA, CFP, and/or LLQP is an asset.
  • Effective communication, relationship management, and business development skills.

  • Experience with HNW clients or wealth concepts is an asset.
  • Post‑secondary education in Finance/Business or related fields.

WHAT ALL ROLES SHARE

  • Demonstrate integrity, trustworthiness, and sound judgment.
  • Deliver best in class client experiences.

  • A multi‑disciplinary expert ecosystem supporting your success.
  • Meaningful career pathways, including progression to registrant roles.
