Job description

Overview:
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Plastic Injection Molding & Packaging Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, monitoring, and maintaining injection molding and packaging equipment to produce high-quality plastic products while meeting production, quality, and safety standards.


What you will be doing:

  • Operate plastic injection molding machines and automated packaging equipment in accordance with established operating procedures.

  • Perform machine start-up, shutdown, and changeovers as required.

  • Load raw materials and packaging supplies into machines.

  • Monitor machine performance and production output to ensure efficient operation.

  • Inspect molded parts for defects such as flash, short shots, sink marks, discoloration, or dimensional inconsistencies.

  • Assemble, label, count, and package finished products according to customer specifications.

  • Conduct routine quality inspections using measuring tools and visual inspection standards.

  • Record production quantities, downtime, scrap, and quality data accurately.

  • Perform basic troubleshooting and minor machine adjustments to maintain product quality and minimize downtime.

  • Report equipment malfunctions, quality concerns, and safety hazards promptly to the supervisor.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area using 5S principles.

  • Follow all company policies related to safety, quality, food-grade or customer-specific requirements (where applicable), and environmental compliance.

  • Assist with preventive maintenance activities and machine cleaning.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, and efficiency.


What you must have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Previous experience operating plastic injection molding machines is preferred.

  • Experience with automated packaging equipment is considered an asset.

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills

  • Ability to read production schedules, work instructions, and quality documentation.

  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Lean Manufacturing principles is an asset.

  • Forklift certification is an asset.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality products.

  • Ability to identify molding defects and take corrective action within established procedures.

  • Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a production team.

  • Good communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to meet production targets while maintaining quality standards.

  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts and overtime as required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg).

  • Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and repetitive hand movements.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and safety footwear.


Salary/Rate Range: $55,000.00 - $62,500.00
