POSITION : Learning Assistance Teacher - temporary
ASSIGNMENT : Elementary (K-7). Supporting students in small groups with specific learning needs for literacy and numeracy.
FTE : 0.4
LOCATION : Bouchie Lake Elementary School
EFFECTIVE DATES : Commencing January 21, 2025 until April 23, 2025, or earlier depending on the return of the incumbent with possibility of extension or reduction in FTE.
Basic Qualifications : The successful candidate will hold a valid BC Teaching Certificate and be a member in good standing in the BC Ministry of Education Teacher Regulation Branch AND possesses one or more of the following :
Training Specialization : Elementary Education with a specialization in Special Education
Related Teaching Experience :
- Recent successful experience teaching in Learning Assistance at the Elementary Level
- Experience providing programs for learning support
A Reasonable Expectation : based on a teacher's skills, abilities, professional development and overall classroom teaching experience, that the teacher will be able to perform the duties in a successful manner in collaboration with other professional staff

Learning Assistance Teacher
A learning assistance teacher ideally has a major in Special Education. Specific experience and training in supporting neurodiverse students is desirable.
The learning assistance teacher provides services to students and staff in the regular classroom as well as alternate environments and must be able to work in a collaborative and consultative manner with classroom teachers, principals, the school-based team, special education assistants, district staff and others.
The annual salary for the full-time Teacher ranges from $61,175 to $109,529 with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. We also offer a competitive benefits package and pension.
