This role plays a key part in developing safe, practical, and high‑quality engineering solutions while mentoring junior engineers and collaborating across disciplines.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITESHealth & SafetyWork in compliance with all Cementation Health and Safety rules and regulationsIdentify health and safety hazards or infractions and report them to the Health and Safety Department.Ensure all applicable safety codes and regulations are met through appropriate design and use of technology.Act as a safety champion by promoting safe behaviours and integrating safety into all designs produced by the groupGeneral ResponsibilitiesLead and deliver mechanical designs for mining construction projects from concept through constructionDevelop engineering solutions that meet regulatory requirements, safety standards, and client operational needsPerform and review engineering calculations, equipment selection, and system layoutsConduct and participate in technical and drawing design reviewsProvide technical direction, mentorship, and review of work completed by Engineers‑in‑TrainingSupport project execution through procurement, vendor evaluation, fabrication, and construction phasesWork closely with project management, operations, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver practical, constructible, and cost‑effective engineering solutionsSupported proposal preparation and technical scope developmentThis description reflects the core responsibilities of the role; additional duties may be assigned as required by project or business needs.Travel RequirementsThis position has the requirement for occasional travel to our project sites and offices.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesNoneEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree in mechanical engineeringRegistered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada6+ years of mechanical engineering experience in mining, heavy industrial, or similar environmentsStrong knowledge of mechanical systems, with experience in one or more of the following areas: material handling, HVAC, ventilation, piping, pumping, pneumatics, hydraulics, rigging, and hoistingProven ability to lead technical work and mentor junior engineersSkills, Knowledge & AbilitiesExperience across multiple stages of the project and engineering lifecycle, including studies, pre‑feasibility and feasibility, basic engineering, issued‑for‑construction (IFC), procurement, fabrication, installation, and commissioningExposure to site work, construction support, and field engineering activitiesExperience using 3D mechanical design and engineering analysis softwareCandidacyPlease note that to be considered, you must be a Canadian citizen or have written authorization to work in Canada under federal immigration requirements and currently be residing in Canada.Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and InclusionAt Cementation Americas, we are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace where every employee is treated with dignity and respect.
