This Position reports to:
Manager, Engineering ProductsYour role and responsibilities
Join our Engineering Apps team to design and build software tools that support all aspects of engineering data management. You will work on existing custom .NET services for engineering data management, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools like PTC Windchill and AutoCAD Vault, support engineering configurators, and modernize mission critical systems. Develop your skills across this wide variety of systems by learning from the experienced architects on our team. You'll start with mentorship on our systems and general architecture principles, gradually taking ownership of components and working your way to managing full solutions. We expect you to learn fast and ask questions.
The work model for the role is: hybrid with two days in the office each week
This role is contributing to all business areas in the North America Region. Main stakeholders are Division IS Managers, Business Process Managers and the design and R&D engineering teams they represent.
You will be mainly accountable for:
Add new functionality and debug/fix issues in .NET services used to move engineering data into SAP
Participate in design review and suggest improvements to existing systems
Manage incidents reported for all systems supported by the team
Support engineering configurator tools
Support manufacturing site integrations with CAD and PLM systems
Our team dynamics: You will join a collaborative team, where you will be able to learn and grow. We support the mechanical and electrical engineering teams developing diverse physical products across ABB.
Qualifications for the role
Strong coding skills in object oriented or functional programming in at least one language (C#, Java, C++, etc)
Demonstrated experience with self-directed learning for new technical topics
2+ years in software development OR Bachelor's in IT/CS
Fluent spoken and written English
Must be legally qualified to work in Ontario or Quebec Canada
Working knowledge of SQL is a plus
Experience with MS DevOps or other CI/CD system a plus
Tech Stack
Primarily a .NET on Windows and containers
Some Java and other languages depending on the project
SAP integration and data management
MS SQL Server
CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, some GitHub)
