TMX Newsfile is seeking a Full Stack Systems Developer to become a technical subject matter expert for our mission-critical .NET/C# application. While this role involves monitoring and extending our core C# engine, the majority of new development will focus on building modern web applications in PHP and cloud-native serverless functions in Python (AWS Lambda). This role is perfect for a developer who enjoys high-stakes application management, architectural evolution, and working across diverse tech stacks, including a willingness to support legacy Perl systems.

Job Location: Hybrid (2-3 days in office) - based in Vancouver, BC.
Key Accountabilities
Application Stewardship: Act as the subject matter expert for mission-critical .NET/C# applications by monitoring system health, troubleshooting complex issues, and implementing necessary extensions.
New Feature Development: Lead the design and execution of new coding projects, primarily utilizing PHP for web applications and Python for AWS Lambda functions.
Cloud Transition: Design and deploy scalable, cloud-native integrations using AWS Lambda, AWS API Gateway, and associated tools.
Database Management: Maintain and optimize data integrity and performance across Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL environments.
Legacy Support: Assist with the maintenance of existing Perl applications (training provided), ensuring stability during the modernization roadmap.
Agile Collaboration: Contribute to an Agile environment through active participation in sprint planning and maintaining rigorous system documentation.
Must Have(s)
Microsoft Stack Proficiency: 3–5+ years of experience developing and maintaining applications within the .NET Framework / .NET Core using C#.
Web & Scripting: Professional proficiency in PHP and Python for new application development.
Cloud Foundations: Hands-on experience or high proficiency with AWS Lambda and API Gateway.
Database Literacy: Comfort working across both SQL Server and MySQL environments.
Polyglot Mindset: A genuine interest in switching between different languages and technical eras to support business needs.
Nice to Have(s)
Perl Experience: Prior experience is a plus, or a strong willingness to learn and maintain Perl scripts.
DevOps/SRE: Experience with application monitoring, logging, and improving system reliability.
Industry Background: Experience in fintech, regulatory compliance, or high-availability data distribution.
Salary Range: 70K/year - 80K/year CAD. Please note that the Salary Range included is a guideline only. The salary offered may vary based on factors, including, but not limited to, the successful candidate’s relevant knowledge, skills, and experience.
