About the Opportunity
General Ledger Accounting Responsibilities
  • Month end closing cycle including Recs and JVs.
  • Assisting in the preparation of monthly financial reports.
  • Assisting and overlooking year end and interim audit.
  • Preparing reports for the bank and ensuring compliance.
  • Daily bank reconciliation and maintenance for U.S. and Canadian bank accounts.
  • Monthly accounts reconciliations and Year end entries / reconciliations.
  • Maintaining intercompany schedules for loan, trade and interest.
  • Ensuring intercompany accounts are reconciled monthly.
  • HST, PST, QST and U.S State tax filings monthly.
  • Review of various accrual and amortization entries.
  • Assisting users with onboarding in Concur where they can submit their credit card expenses.
  • Reviewing the journal entries prepared by junior accountant to ensure accuracy.
  • Training Junior Accountant.
  • ERP Implementation: Take ownership of GL/Costing areas of EPICOR.

Cost Accounting Responsibilities
  • Prepare monthly closing costing entries and profit reports.
  • Costing: Provide costing to sales teams.
  • Reports: Prepare monthly/weekly reports like backlog reports, labor hour reports, sales dashboards, inventory reports etc.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in monitoring inventory levels and reconciling discrepancies
  • Professional Development:
  • Work closely with Senior Cost Accountant. Continuously learn and develop skills in accounting principles, techniques, and software applications.

About You
  • Experience of at least 4-5 years of relevant accounting work, preferably in an industrial setting, specifically with general ledger accounting, financial analysis and costing.
  • University degree in accounting.
  • Actively working towards a professional accounting designation.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills – including pivots, macros and advanced formulas for analysis.
  • Experience with EPICOR is an asset.
  • Attitude of continuous improvement.

Pay Range
$80,000– $90,000 per year
