We are looking to hire a Power Applications and Artificial Intelligence Lead to support Empower Simcoe's Information Technology and Digital Solutions team by designing, developing, and maintaining data analytics, dashboards, and applied artificial intelligence (AI) solutions that improve decision-making, service delivery, and operational efficiency. This role collaboratives across departments to translate business and service needs into accessible, ethical, and actionable insights, while promoting clear, accountable AI practices and stronger user adoption. This is a contract position up to December 31, 2026.

Compensation package:

  • Work up to 37.5 hours per week
  • Minimum starting rate of pay is $36.86 per hour
  • 11 paid statutory holidays

Minimum requirements of this position include:

  • Proven successful completion of degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience as deemed acceptable by the employer.
  • Minimum five years' full-time recent experience in information technology, Power BI development, data visualization, and business intelligence is required.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft 365 and the Power Platform (Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate).
  • Experience building dashboards, data models and data flow processes and integrating Power Platform solutions with enterprise systems.
  • High level of computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Knowledge of information technology best practices.
  • Demonstrated skills championing change and innovation.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross functional teams.
  • Excellent problem solving, attention to detail and decision-making skills.
  • Business acumen and ability to align technology solutions with organizational goals.
  • Flexible, exercises sound judgement with excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management abilities.
  • Current valid driver's licence and own reliable transportation to be used in the course of employment

Overview of Duties (including, but not limited to):

  • Designing, building, and maintaining Power BI dashboards and reports to support operational, financial, and service outcomes.
  • Working with internal stakeholders to identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and reporting requirements aligned with organizational goals.
  • Ensuring dashboards are accessible, user-friendly, and aligned with agency standards where applicable.
  • Supporting the responsible use of AI tools (e.g., predictive analytics, natural language summaries, workflow automation).
  • Identifying opportunities where AI can improve reporting, forecasting, service planning, or administrative efficiency.
  • Assisting in developing data-driven insights using machine learning or advanced analytics techniques, where appropriate.
  • Collaborating with departments to understand business requirements and translating them into data models, reports and dashboards.
  • Leading or participating in project planning and delivery for analytics and AI initiatives, including timelines, milestones and resource coordination.
  • Ensuring ethical, transparent, and privacy-aware use of AI technologies.
  • Collaborating with IT and Digital Solutions to ensure data integrity, security, and privacy compliance.
  • Monitoring analytics solution performance, troubleshooting issues, and performing routine maintenance and optimizations.
  • Monitoring models for bias, drift, and performance and implementing retraining and remediation processes as needed.
  • Measuring and reporting the impact, return on investment, and outcomes of analytics and AI solutions.
  • Documenting data sources, logic, and reporting standards.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and governance support, creating and delivering training, user guides, and ongoing support to build analytics capability and promote adoption and self-service across teams.
  • Supporting continuous improvement of data processes and analytics maturity across the organization.
  • Managing integrations and APIs between Power Platform solutions and enterprise systems.
  • Staying current with Power Platform, BI, and AI best practices and emerging technologies and applying them when beneficial.
