Job description

About Us

Locally owned and operated since 1996, Wiseworth Canada Industries Ltd. is the Master Distributor for Ingersoll Rand compressed air products, parts, and services across British Columbia, Alberta, the Yukon, and Northwest Territories.

We are proud to be the largest compressed air sales and service provider in Western Canada, recently recognized as Top Ingersoll Rand Distributor in North America and awarded the Consumer Choice Award for Business Excellence. Our partnership with Ingersoll Rand, a global leader in compressed air innovation, positions us as the supplier of choice in our industry. We are a team driven by respect, integrity, teamwork, safety, and a passion for customer success.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Field Service Technician to join our Edmonton-based service team. In this hands-on, customer-facing role, you’ll install, maintain, diagnose, and repair industrial compressed air equipment at customer sites throughout the Edmonton region and surrounding areas.

If you are an experienced service technician, or a mechanically and electrically skilled tradesperson who enjoys troubleshooting industrial equipment and helping customers, we’d like to hear from you.

You’ll work independently in the field while receiving strong support from our Service Coordinators, Service Manager, parts team, and technical resources. Success in this role requires sound mechanical and electrical aptitude, a commitment to safe work practices, strong communication skills, careful documentation, and pride in delivering dependable, high-quality service.

Experience with compressed air systems is an asset, but it is not essential. We provide a structured combination of job shadowing, hands-on field experience, online learning, and formal classroom instruction to help suitable candidates become factory-certified Ingersoll Rand Technicians.

Field Service & Technical Support

  • Perform equipment installations and start-ups, preventive maintenance, diagnostic inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on industrial air compressors, dryers, and related compressed air equipment.

  • Read and interpret electrical wiring schematics, technical manuals, parts manuals, and manufacturer documentation.

  • Use diagnostic and precision measuring tools to identify equipment issues and confirm that repaired equipment meets operating and quality standards.

  • Accurately document all service and installation activities, including work orders, maintenance checklists, parts used, recommendations, and daily time records.

Customer Service Excellence

  • Build trusted customer relationships through professional, responsive, and respectful communication.

  • Explain equipment conditions, repair requirements, and recommended next steps clearly to customers.

  • Respond to customer concerns, identify practical solutions, and recommend system improvements that enhance reliability, safety, efficiency, and productivity.

  • Identify required parts and services, communicate recommendations, and support timely follow-up through customer approval and completion.

Safety, Travel & Teamwork

  • Follow Wiseworth and customer health and safety standards, safe work procedures, and personal protective equipment requirements in changing industrial environments.

  • Travel daily to customer sites throughout Edmonton and surrounding areas, with occasional travel elsewhere in Alberta or Western Canada.

  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule and respond to occasional after-hours service calls.

  • Coordinate with Service Coordinators, Account Managers, parts personnel, and other Technicians to obtain materials, resolve issues, and deliver a seamless customer experience.

  • Promote Wiseworth products and services—including planned maintenance, genuine replacement parts, equipment, system accessories, diagnostics, audits, and leak detection—when they provide meaningful value to the customer.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary technical education, apprenticeship training, or a recognized trade qualification is preferred.

  • Previous field service, industrial maintenance, or equipment repair experience is preferred.

  • Experience in compressed air, millwright work, HVAC/refrigeration, electrical/electronics, rotating equipment, heavy equipment, automotive, or compressed natural gas will be strongly considered.

  • Working knowledge of some or all of the following is an asset: AC/DC circuits, motors and controls, wiring diagrams and schematics, PLCs, HVAC, refrigeration systems, and industrial mechanical equipment.

  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with a practical, methodical approach to troubleshooting.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

  • High level of integrity, sound judgment, attention to detail, and commitment to completing accurate, high-quality work.

  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office, laptops, tablets, mobile devices, and digital business or field-service systems.

  • Own set of standard hand tools; Wiseworth supplies specialty and diagnostic tools.

  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence with an acceptable driver’s abstract and no major traffic violations, suspensions, or impaired-driving offences within the previous five years.

  • Valid Canadian passport and ability to travel within Canada and to the United States for periodic factory training.

  • Ability to satisfy customer-site access requirements, which may include background screening, drug and alcohol testing, and being clean-shaven where respirator use is required.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to work safely in industrial and mechanical equipment environments that may involve noise, heat, cold, high-voltage electrical equipment, ladders, and aerial work platforms.

  • Ability to regularly walk, stoop, reach, kneel, climb, push, pull, and use hands and fingers to complete service work.

  • Ability to regularly lift or move up to 25 lbs, frequently lift or move up to 50 lbs, and occasionally lift or move more than 75 lbs using appropriate assistance or lifting equipment.

Compensation & Benefits

We offer a competitive compensation package designed to attract and retain skilled service professionals:

  • Competitive hourly wage based on experience, with performance incentive opportunities.

  • Banked-time eligibility, providing opportunities to earn additional time off.

  • Company service vehicle with fleet fuel and maintenance card.

  • Per diem for eligible travel assignments.

  • Tool and safety-boot allowance.

  • Company-provided tablet and mobile phone.

  • Comprehensive benefits program including extended health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance.

  • Company matching pension plan.

  • Annual flex and wellness allowance.

  • Paid vacation and sick days.

  • Employee Assistance Program and educational assistance for approved employment-related courses.

  • Ongoing technical training, factory certification, and opportunities for career advancement within a growing organization.

Why Join Wiseworth?

At Wiseworth Canada, you will enjoy:

  • The stability of working with a recognized industry leader.

  • A safety-focused, collaborative, and supportive team environment.

  • Meaningful work that helps customers improve equipment reliability and productivity.

  • Continuous learning through field experience, technical resources, and factory training.

  • Engaged leadership focused on customer success, employee development, and continuous improvement.

  • A workplace culture built on integrity, respect, accountability, and teamwork.

  • The opportunity to represent premium products from one of the world’s most respected industrial manufacturers.

  • This position is based from our Edmonton service facility.

  • Wiseworth Canada Industries Ltd. maintains a drug and alcohol-free workplace.

If you take pride in solving technical problems, supporting customers, working safely, and being part of a high-performing service team, we invite you to join Wiseworth Canada and build a rewarding career with us.
