SMT Operator for our client, Sanmina, a global leader in advanced manufacturing solutions. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electronics manufacturing professional who enjoys working with automated production equipment, high-tech assembly processes, and quality-focused manufacturing environments.
In this role, you will be responsible for the setup, operation, and optimization of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) equipment to produce high-quality electronic products. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining production efficiency, ensuring quality standards are met, and supporting continuous process improvements.
- Pay Rate: starting at $ 19.00/hour

- Days: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
- Afternoons: 4:00 PM - 12:00 AM
- Nights: 12:00 AM - 8:00 AM
- Shift premiums available for afternoon and night shifts

Responsibilities: SMT Equipment Operation & Production - Set up, operate, and monitor SMT production equipment to manufacture products according to engineering drawings, work instructions, and process documentation.
- Ensure production schedules are met while maintaining quality and productivity targets.
- Load and unload SMT feeders and machine carriages.
- Perform machine setups and changeovers as required.
- Monitor equipment performance and troubleshoot routine production issues.
- Support line optimization and continuous improvement initiatives to maximize efficiency.
Quality & Process Control - Monitor process controls and process inputs to ensure product quality and process stability.
- Utilize Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods to track and improve manufacturing performance.
- Conduct product inspections according to established procedures and quality standards.
- Identify, document, and communicate process deviations, observations, and improvement opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with company quality requirements and manufacturing standards.
Inventory & Materials Management - Manage component inventory required for SMT production.
- Perform cycle counts and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Ensure material availability to support uninterrupted production.
- Maintain component and machine databases as new devices and shape codes are introduced.
Collaboration & Support - Work closely with Engineering, Production, Quality, and other support teams to resolve line issues and improve processes.
- Provide technical feedback on production challenges and equipment performance.
- Support other production areas, including Mechanical Assembly, Packaging, and related manufacturing operations when required.
- Demonstrate leadership and contribute positively to team performance and operational goals.
Qualifications and Skills: - Grade 12 diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a 26-week college program in Electronics Assembly or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience operating complex automated production equipment or within an SMT manufacturing environment.
- Experience working in electronics manufacturing is strongly preferred.
- Experience with Fuji and Universal SMT equipment is considered a strong asset.
- Strong understanding of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) processes.
- Knowledge of:
- Pick & Place equipment
- Screen Printing operations
- Reflow processes
- PCB handling procedures
- ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) practices
- IPC-A-610 standards
- Experience working with PC-based manufacturing software and equipment interfaces.
- Comfortable using Windows-based systems and production software applications.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Excellent process control and documentation skills.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Leadership skills with the ability to support and influence team success.
- Ability to follow detailed work instructions and technical documentation.
- Mu st be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
