Partner Staffing on behalf of our Client, We are seeking a motivated and experienced Environmental Scientist or Technician to join our team in Southwest Saskatchewan. This field-based role focuses on reclamation, remediation, and spill response projects across a range of sites, including upstream oil and gas, agricultural, and industrial locations. The successful candidate will play a key role in site assessments, monitoring, and environmental compliance.



Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct environmental site assessments (Phase I & II ESAs)
  • Lead and support reclamation and remediation projects
  • Perform spill response, site inspections, and emergency response activities
  • Soil, groundwater, and surface water sampling and monitoring
  • Coordinate and oversee field programs and subcontractors
  • Prepare detailed technical reports and documentation
  • Ensure compliance with provincial regulations and guidelines
  • Communicate effectively with clients, regulators, and internal teams
  • Maintain health, safety, and environmental standards in the field

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum 4+ years of relevant field experience
  • Strong knowledge of Saskatchewan environmental regulations and guidelines
  • Experience with reclamation certificate applications is an asset
  • Proficiency in soil classification, vegetation assessments, and site inspections
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Assets

  • First Aid, H2S Alive, and Ground Disturbance certifications
  • Experience with upstream oil and gas sites
  • GPS and field data collection experience

Working Conditions

  • Primarily field-based in Southwest Saskatchewan
  • Outdoor work in varying weather conditions
  • Travel and occasional extended field stays required

About the Opportunity Our Client is currently seeking a Senior Biologist to join the team. Preference is for candidates to be based out of Fort St James, Fort St John, and Prince George, BC. However, we will consider candidates that reside outside of these areas. Your responsibilities include but are not limited to: Leading and joining field teams in various disciplines (wildlife, birds, fish, aquatic habitat, water quality, vegetation, soils, wetlands, environmental monitoring, sediment, and erosion control) Contributing to environmental impact assessments, mitigation plans, and proposals. Assisting in preparing and obtaining regulatory approvals for a wide variety of projects such as transportation, renewable energy, mining, oil, and gas, etc. Senior level responsibilities could include Field Coordination and Project Management Technical leadership and mentorship within a team environment Promoting a strong safety culture and working collaboratively within corporate culture More About You To qualify, you will need a minimum of a B.Sc. in Biology or related discipline with five years’ experience, and RPBio, PBiol, and/or P.Ag. designation or eligibility. Courses or certifications in the following areas would be considered assets: · Electrofishing Certification (approved by WorkSafe BC) · Fish identification · Bird survey methodology and bird identification · Amphibian salvage methodology and amphibian identification · Erosion and Sediment Control · Plant identification Candidates with the following skills and experience will be considered: Sound knowledge of field techniques and regulatory standards necessary for conducting a variety of field activities (i.e., wildlife assessments, bird surveys, water quality, fisheries inventories/ salvage, environmental monitoring/inspection) Knowledge of the provincial and federal environmental assessment regulatory environment Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time management skills and physically fit Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Excellent writing and communication skills, desire to grow business, and work closely (both in a field lead and support role) with other environmental professionals, environmental discipline leads, and First Nations Proficiency in the operation of field equipment is an asset Due to the nature of the role, you must have a valid Driver's License. Lastly, you will be joining with the passion to contribute and believe in the work that they do.
