Job description

Job description

HireArt is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company find a QA Release Engineer to support software quality and release readiness by driving improvements to the Perception development and validation process.

In this role, you’ll work closely with machine learning engineers and cross-functional teams to improve the software development lifecycle from implementation and testing through deployment. You’ll help identify process inefficiencies, improve release quality, support validation workflows, and ensure software changes are thoroughly tested before deployment.

The ideal candidate is highly analytical, detail-oriented, and passionate about software quality. They thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy solving complex problems that improve both product quality and engineering efficiency.

As a QA Release Engineer, you'll:
  • Conduct manual and automated testing of software applications to identify defects, risks, and quality concerns.
  • Review and validate software changes, including functional, regression, integration, and performance testing activities.
  • Analyze pull requests and support the validation process to ensure software changes meet quality standards before release.
  • Triage system-generated scenarios and investigate potential issues identified during testing.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, machine learning engineers, product teams, and other stakeholders to identify and communicate the impact of regressions and performance issues.
  • Track, document, and manage defects through resolution using established QA processes and tools.
  • Perform root cause analysis on software issues and partner with development teams to drive timely resolutions.
  • Validate bug fixes and software enhancements through comprehensive re-testing to prevent regressions.
  • Generate clear and concise test reports, highlighting risks, issues, quality metrics, and release readiness.
  • Support release processes, validation workflows, infrastructure activities, and automated testing pipelines.
  • Contribute to process improvements that enhance software quality, release efficiency, and developer productivity.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
  • 6+ years of proven experience as a QA Engineer, with experience supporting software quality assurance, testing, and release validation
  • Experience with both manual and automated testing methodologies
  • Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, including functional, regression, integration, and performance testing
  • Experience with test management tools such as TestRail or similar platforms
  • Experience using issue tracking and project management tools such as Jira
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • This role will require safety boots that conform to ASTM F2412 / F2413 requirements

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting machine learning, perception, robotics, autonomous vehicles, or other complex software systems
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, release management processes, and software deployment workflows
  • Experience analyzing software performance and identifying process improvements that increase engineering efficiency
  • Experience working with AI-assisted development tools and modern software development practices

Benefits:
  • Pre-tax commuter benefits
  • Employer (HireArt) subsidized healthcare benefits (eligibility begins on the first of the month following 60 days of service)
  • Flexible Spending Account for healthcare-related costs
  • HireArt covers all costs for short- and long-term disability and life insurance
  • 401k package

Commitment: This is a full-time, ongoing contract position staffed via HireArt. It will be onsite and available to candidates who are local to the Foster City, CA area.

HireArt values diversity and is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We are interested in every qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. Unfortunately, we are not able to sponsor visas or employ corp-to-corp.
