Job description

Our client is an established, engineering-focused General Contractor leading complex, high-visibility institutional and commercial projects throughout Southern Ontario and the GTA. Recognized for technical excellence in delivering large-scale community hubs, secondary schools, aquatic facilities, and civic developments, they are seeking a highly experienced, safety-first Site Superintendent to lead field operations, trade coordination, and quality control on upcoming major new-build sites.

Advantages
● Competitive base salary package aligned with senior-level experience
● Comprehensive Benefits package after 3 months
● Generous RRSP Matching program
● Paid vacation package
● Direct growth trajectory within a fast-growing, highly respected boutique General Contractor
● High-visibility, flagship institutional projects across the GTA

Responsibilities
On-Site Leadership & Trade Coordination:
● Provide continuous, direct field supervision over all trades, subtrades, general laborers, and equipment operators across complex new-build ICI sites.
● Sequence, coordinate, and orchestrate daily site activities across various divisions (excavation, concrete framing, structural steel, envelope, MEP trades, high-end interior finishes).
● Conduct daily site walk-throughs to ensure trade alignment with architectural and engineering specifications, eliminating rework.

Short-Term Scheduling & Field Logistics:
● Translate the PM’s master schedule into detailed 2-week and 4-week look-ahead schedules, maintaining momentum on critical path activities.
● Coordinate site logistics, staging areas, crane/hoist operations, deliveries, traffic management, and shared site resources—frequently within tight, occupied civic environments. ● Maintain daily site logs documenting site progress, weather conditions, headcount, inspections, subtrade delays, and field instructions.

Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance:
● Enforce full compliance with the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), provincial labor laws, and JR Certus safety standards.
● Direct weekly site safety meetings, tool-box talks, site orientations, hazard assessments, and maintain site safety records.
● Oversee site environmental controls, waste management programs, and sustainability protocols required for LEED-certified assets.

Quality Control & Regulatory Inspections:
● Lead quality control inspections, managing the resolution of non-conformance items and deficiencies in real time.
● Coordinate and host municipal building officials, ministry inspectors, structural/MEP design consultants, and third-party testing agencies for field sign-offs.
● Drive final punch-list resolution alongside the Project Manager to achieve Substantial Performance, occupancy approvals, and seamless handover.

Qualifications
● 8+ years of experience as a Site Superintendent leading complex, large-scale ICI new-build projects in Ontario.
● Deep experience overseeing institutional construction (e.g., community complexes, aquatic centers, secondary schools, public facilities) valued at $15M to $50M+.
● Comprehensive understanding of Ontario Building Code, OHSA standards, heavy civil groundwork, structural steel, concrete, and high-end exterior/interior architectural finishes.
● Gold Seal Certification (GSC) strongly preferred.
● Knowledge of LEED sustainable building practices and site waste diversion requirements.
● Strong leadership persona with exceptional problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.

Summary
If you are a seasoned ICI Site Superintendent looking to lead signature institutional builds across the GTA with a top-tier general contractor, reach out today by applying directly or emailing parveen.sandhu@randstad.ca with your resume.
