Maritime Electric Company, Limited is seeking candidates for the position of Telecom Technician.
Reporting to the Supervisor, Technical Services and working with minimum supervision, the Telecom Technician is a fully qualified technician with responsibility for installing, testing, commissioning, repairing and maintaining the Company’s telecommunication systems through Operations Technology.
Requirements:
The successful candidate will have graduated from a recognized institute of applied science and technology or applicable degree from a recognized university in electronics, electrical or communications technology. Eligible for membership in the ITP. The successful candidate will possess good working knowledge of utility telecommunication equipment; can read, interpret and work from wiring diagrams; good working knowledge of all standard tools and test equipment; aptitude for troubleshooting and solving problems within the scope of the position; aptitude for continuous learning to keep knowledge within the field of electric utility telecommunication work inclusive of fiber optic experience. Shall have a sound knowledge of and aptitude for computers and applicable software programs.
The starting rate of pay for a Telecom Technician is $47.67 per hour (representing 90% of the full rate as per the current Collective Agreement between Maritime Electric and Local No. 1928 – Unit 10 IBEW.
