GEV Wind Power is seeking experienced Large Corrective Exchange (MCE) Technicians to support major component exchanges across wind farms throughout the United States and Canada. This role involves working at height to remove and install large wind turbine components such as blades, gearboxes, generators, and hubs.
MCE Technicians play a critical role in supporting wind turbine reliability by executing complex corrective maintenance activities while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
Job Responsibilities
Perform major component exchanges (MCE) including blades, gearboxes, generators, hubs, and other large turbine components.
Assist with rigging operations, crane coordination, and lift planning during component replacements.
Conduct mechanical disassembly and reassembly of turbine components according to OEM procedures.
Inspect components and supporting structures for damage or wear during exchanges.
Follow all safety protocols, lock-out/tag-out procedures, and site-specific requirements.
Complete accurate service documentation and reports for work performed.
Work collaboratively with site teams, crane crews, and project leads to execute safe and efficient exchanges.
Travel to various wind farms and project locations as required.
Must meet the following requirements, have or obtain the listed required certifications and training (may be provided) including, but not limited to:
Hands-on experience operating Liftra blade exchange systems in support of major component exchanges within the wind industry is required.
Valid passport preferred
Ability to work an 8-week on, 1 week off rotation
Physically able to safely climb wind turbines up to 120m+ (400+ feet), stand, stoop, walk, crawl, crouch, lift up to 75 lbs. and generally meet the physical demands of the position.
Must have strong experience doing torquing and tensioning
Must have strong experience using a grease gun, doing filter changes
Valid and current driver's license with a satisfactory driving record (satisfactory MVR is required)
Must be 21 years of age to be able to drive a company vehicle
Must be able to proficiently read, write and speak English
Prefer certification to call a crane
Satisfactory criminal background check
The following certifications or will train:
GWO BST (Basic Safety Training) - fire awareness, working at heights, manual handling, first aid
GWO BTT (Basic Technical Training) - electrical, hydraulic, mechanical
Siemens Basic Technician Training (Green Profile)
OSHA 10 General Industry
Crane, Chain Hoist and Rigging Safety Training
NFPA 70E Arc-Flash Awareness
Prefer training or experience with Touchscreen Controller Hand Terminals
