Bi-Weekly Hours : 75.0 hours bi-weekly / Days, Monday to Friday (evenings & weekends as required). We encourage underrepresented groups to join our team, be yourself, and help us achieve our vision of for an inclusive workplace and healthcare system.The Administrator for Prince County Hospital is a senior member of Health PEI’s operations division, Hospital Services Management team, reporting to the Executive Director of Hospital Services and an advisor to the Chief Operations Officer (COO), Chief Executive Office (CEO), Board of Health PEI and the Department of Health and Wellness. The position is responsible for all aspects of on-site management and ensuring the delivery of quality health services. This position is also accountable and responsible for all staff and the operational budget. In addition, it is responsible for the administration and development of policies and programs that impact regionally and provincially; participates in provincial, regional and national programs on behalf of Health PEI.

The successful applicant will demonstrate leadership in the following areas :

Duties will include but are not limited to :

  • Accountable to ensure the hospitals provide a standard of patient care consistent with HPEI philosophy, policies and objectives.
  • Provide broad oversight and leadership of Prince County Hospital, staff, volunteers; has sole responsibility for all staff and operations of the facility.
  • Develop annual business plan, strategic plan, goals and objectives.
  • Develop and manage the annual operating and capital budgets for the facilities and recommending the allocation and distribution of funds with consideration of needs of division and system.
  • Monitor Hospital budget, analyzing expenditure trends, preparing quarterly forecasts, approving expenditures, identifying and implementing operational efficiencies.
  • Prepare Briefing Notes and information and advising ED of Hospital Services, COO, CMO, Deputy Minister,
  • Minister of Health and Wellness, HPEI Board, CEO.
  • Prepare correspondence, draft press releases, reports, budget estimates and memorandums for Treasury Board and Executive Council.
  • Act as a primary spokesperson to the Hospital, community, media, government and non-government agencies.
  • Prepare and present submissions to Health PEI Executive Team, HPEI Board, Treasury Board and Cabinet committees.
  • Employ LEAN process improvement and other change management strategies to facilitate quality improvement activities.
  • Ensure emergency services and planning, developing disaster plans and mock disaster planning is routinely practiced; ensure liaison with fire department, police and other local agencies to endure collaboration and communication across the communities.
  • Work closely with the HR division and the PCH HR manager to facilitate HR practices consistent with the organizational values and client outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with the Recruitment and Retention Secretariat on the recruitment of hospital staff and physicians and assist with the recruitment and retention efforts, particularly in areas of critical staffing shortages.
  • The Administrator is financially accountable to Health PEI for administering, evaluation, monitoring and management of the allocation of Prince County Hospitals’ resources to ensure optimum outcomes.
